Schramm was the most serious of Buttgereit's films; in terms of humor, I was thinking more along the lines of the meta-jabs at the horror genre in Nekromantik and Der Todesking.

A Serbian Film lacks the gritty underground arthouse trappings of Buttgereit's work. It's filmed in a flashier style closer to Martyrs or the Hostel films. It also lacks the latent flashes of humor. You'll walk out of either Nekro or Serbian drained, but it's a different kind of drained.
I won't dispute that, by any reasonable standards, this album is bad. The lyrics sound like a freshman parody of Reed/Bukowski/Burroughs and the music seems designed to be the least suitable backing for the vocal barking.
I'll second the "Mouth" love. It's a Lovecraft homage that's both fun and terrifying (and doesn't try to ape Re-Animator's style of Lovecraft fun and terrifying). Bonus points for using Robot Monster to signify reality and for the Charlton Heston cameo. (Seriously, how did two such outspoken political polar opposites…
The case could be made for Basil Dearden's 1961 film Victim being included on the list. It was a notable part of the public discussion on the legalization of homosexuality in the UK.
…more, more I'm still not satisfied.
Caught this at the Detroit midnight screening. The sandpaper scene wasn't graphic at all, and the barbed wire was totally absent. Anyone else see the movie (and want to admit it) and have the same experiences. Internet rumor (take that for what it's worth) is that the US theatrical version is cut and that the…
It's not as affecting as A Serbian Film. The violence is about the same level of over the top (just in different ways), but you don't care about the characters on whom the violence is inflicted.
So how's the sound on the new remasters? I have Shine On and the single-disc editions of the studio albums not present in the box. Wondering if the new sonic polishing warrents reinvesting in selected albums from the canon.
I've used Let Love In as an entry point for neophytes. It's accessible, and has the band's best known song, "Red Right Hand."
You forgot:
Every Mother's Nightmare - Wake Up Screaming
Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth
With Gilbert Gottfried as Hitler
The 1991 horror/comedy Highway to Hell features Gilbert Gottfried as Hitler. It also features cameos from Lita Ford and Ben Stiller. On Netflix Instant.
Breasts
Large breasts can present a challenge to the embalmer. When the decedent is on her back, gravity may pull the breasts laterally. (I believe Oprah Winfrey discussed this problem when giving interviews on her performance in "Beloved.") I have known embalmers to tape or tie the breasts together during the…
Y-incisions and Melodrama
Paco's autopsy suturing looked a bit odd. Most autopsies utilize the Y-incision, but Paco's looked like the Y had some sort of base to it. I'm not saying it's wrong; I've just never seen an autopsied body like that.
Romano's screams
Not to be too morbid, but, considering the volume of the mixer and the proximity of the top blade to Mr. Romano's throat, did his screams last a little too long? Once the button was pushed, wouldn't he be decapitated almost instantly?
It's a good starting attitude to have. The other major component of funeral service is your ability to deal with other people…especially those who are at the worse moment of their lives. For some families, the director is the physical manifestation of their loved one's death. You don't get outwardly blamed for it, but…
@Vivisfuge: You're exactly right. The price of gas issue is my (financial) sticking point. For our locations, no one facility is closer to nursing homes and/or hospitals than the others. In many cases, the care center removal staff have to drive by at least one other unit before they can reach place of death.
Death Care, Poseidon Societies, Centralized Care
Once again, the corporate euphemisms employed in this episode are 100% accurate.
I think most staff members are Rico's…funny, well-balanced, family people. You don't see it as just a job, but you separate work life from home life.
Funeral home shopping is the new norm. There's nothing greedy about it. That bias may have been more prevalent before the recession hit, but now….
