He knows that the eggs will hatch, which is why he asks someone he trusts to look after them, but he just doesn't have it in him to do something that he knows…

Vows is great, and I loved Eye of the Beholder as well.

But my favorite Xanatos moment is probably in the Gathering, when he gets everyone to team up against Oberon.

Seconded on all counts, especially the point about mythologies and folklore. These reviews won't get there for some time, but I still can't believe how clever the integration of stories from so many different cultures was on this show. Woo hoo!

I still think about the brilliance of this show, even though I haven't seen it in years. I watched each episode multiple times and have a pretty good memory for them, and will eagerly follow along with the write-ups, though I'd love to watch it again as I do.
