I think Lexington
I think Lexington
Okay, good point.
Right, I forgot about Nixon in Watchmen. Good point. Although that felt more realistic, and worked as a way of showing how Dr. Manhattan changed history. Reagan in TDKR is such a caricature.
I thought it meant that Dark Knight Returns' superfight made sense (and I'd agree with that). They have distinctly different worldviews that arguably can't coexist.
One aspect of TDKR that's simultaneously very dated and yet somehow not is Reagan.
Thanks, I haven't read that one.
Oh, and enough of Superman-as-Jesus (I'm looking at you, Superman Returns and Man of Steel).
The problem with Superman isn't that he's insufficiently dark and cynical, it's that he's overpowered and that the public's reaction makes no sense.
Not anymore. They made up. It was a fitting sendoff.
If I have to pick one, it's Better Know a District with Eleanor Holmes Norton.
"Is Demona an abomination or is the evolution of the Gargoyles?"
Put me down for more Gargoyles coverage. Absolutely. The best is yet to come.
Does The Edge answer the concerns about people spotting the Gargoyles? In earlier episodes, members of the clan were in easy-to-spot situations, but The Edge squashes any rumors by providing a plausible "they were robots" explanation.
I loved the Illuminati episodes, especially the one in the hotel. They were a modern version of the All Legends Are True aspect of the show. Basically the 20th century equivalent of ancient myths or Shakespearean folklore.
I laughed out loud multiple times. I'm happy.
How could you not?
Unless you're into smaller guys, in which case, sure. But otherwise…
It's also a sign of how Goliath's mentality hasn't fully adjusted to the 1000 year jump. He argues that they defeated Xanatos and won the castle, which might have made sense in 10th century Scotland, but doesn't take into account Xanatos' reach from jail in 20th century New York.
Okay, this is anonymous so…
Was I the only one attracted to Demona? I'm sure the voice work and intriguing characterization had something to do with it, but there was something about that metal snake thing wrapped around her arm. Yowza.
I came here to write "see if the spell was true," but you beat me to it.
Adding on…
Xanatos sees a lot of value in proving that the Grimorum is real, as opposed to a bunch of fictitious legends. He proves that by awakening the gargoyles, and then goes on to use the book for numerous plans.
Goliath all the way.
I still remember the running conversation I had as my friend and I marathoned the series:
Superman's super power is flight, and super strength, and heat vision.
Spiderman's super power is crawling on walls, strength, and spider sense.
Goliath's super power is that HE'S A BIG GARGOYLE!
Still hasn't…
