I think the CGI on DS9 is actually quite excellent, especially for its time.  You never really notice, which is not the case in say, the Star Wars prequels.

I don't think it slows down in season 4, SPOILERS     The events with the Klingons and the Cardassians, which are partly engineered by the Founders, have a major role in what ultimately goes down.  And I think Homefront was a brilliant use of the ongoing threat.  Plus we get more development of the Dominion.

@Eddie      DS9 totally called this out.   SPOILERS:   There was a mention of how the Sona had been so pissed by the events of insurrection that they had allied with the Dominion, and their nebula happened to have an ample supply of the plant neccessary for K-White, solving that problem for the Dominion.

The funny thing is, they're filler at a point when I feel the main plot was strong enough that it could have been stretched into another season or two.

@avclub-7cbaf9384cf3835106bf2f444c0bcf65:disqus :  It's actually not unrealistic.  If you look at the size of say, the US Navy prior to Pearl harbor compared to the height of the war, you will see that a nation with resources under existential threat can mobilize extremely quickly and accomplish industrial feats that
