Thanks, Marrk. It's hard to be polite when you can't see the person's face, I know how it goes. Whatever, we're all just killing time here anyhow, it's not super important.

That is a good point. Probably not the rockers I like, but a good point nonetheless.

Not a huge Jam fan, but I know what you're saying. I feel that way about The Undertones and The Kids.

You can if you don't like the original band. Like if I don't like Pearl Jam, I'm certainly not going to like a third rate knock off of them.

Colonel Gentleman, I think you maybe have a massive brain hemorrhage. It's like you can't focus here, man. How many fingers am I holding up?

The Darkness were terrible. They didn't have an original take on classic rock. You can work in the style of a genre quite effectively without aping it or out-right ripping it off.

Drunk on Mystery, you bring up a great point. I can't argue that at all. However, do you think mainstream audiences and media would know a Jagger level talent if they saw it, and then would have the courage to support it?

Passive aggressive condescension. Very original. Maybe you could shoe-horn in a tired meme?

And I usually do. That's right, who could have guessed, I hate the fucking Beatles.

Nice edit there. I'm not exactly sure where you think I said that there wasn't/shouldn't have been a reaction to the LA scene. Duh. Everyone pretty much just takes that as fact, unless they never read a single article about grunge, ever. Look, the point I'm making is that true rock n roll was taken out of the

He asked about 80's bands, not bands popular when PJ broke, dumbass.

You don't know what you're talking about. Never once did I compare anyone to the Nazi's or Hitler. I just used WWII as an analogy, which is obviously not the same thing as calling someone a Nazi. If you're going to invoke a law, at least know what it is.

You and 8 out of ten people that comment on this site could trade names and avatars, and no one would know the difference. You're interchangeable, E. Buzz. You don't have a lick of originality, as evidenced by your lame use of tired insults like "kewl," "edgy," and "alternative," because obviously anyone that has

Good points. I guess I include the Cars based on how they fit in the lineage of rock n roll more than how they fit into radio programming or how the average person hears classic rock.

No, but most mainstream popular rock music from the 80's onward sucked/sucks.

I grew up listening to the Clash. My dad is a HUGE fan. I'll admit there are a handful of songs that I like, however that doesn't mean they deserve the legacy given to them by the modern rock critic cabal.

I would argue that in the 80's there was much more of a "what you see is what you get" mentality. But I get what you're saying, 80's hard rock is mostly garbage and forced-fun is just as bad as sad bastard music.

Yes, E. Buzz. Like you I spend all my time thinking of ways to appear cool.

See below. I can come up with more 80's guitar based classic rock too, if you'd like.

The Cars, ZZ Top, Van Halen (it's weird that you don't think Van Halen has a huge debt to Little Richard, the Stones, etc) Joan Jett, etc, etc, etc.
