Thought about watching the first one and decided not to.   I win.

Yeah, people complain when everything is spelled out for the viewer, so the writers should get some credit for keeping it more subtle in that scene.

I was surprised they signed her to such a contract.    It wasn't like she was a big star before this show.   I can only assume they didn't happen to have her do a scene in the first season or two and then she had some leverage once her character became popular.

I even recognized the intro/sound effects at the beginning of the song and assumed it was a recreation and that they wouldn't pay for the Led Zep version.    It was a very pleasant surprise for me when the guitar kicked in.   That was the highlight of the episode for me as well, even though that's a song from my least

That's the whole big problem with Alien invasion stories.   If they have the technology to get here then they are so far ahead of anything on this planet that there couldn't be a contest.   It would be like a tiny tribe of people living on an isolated island trying to take on a modern aircraft carrier with spears and

They really can't try to make the aliens who killed off 99% of humanity into allies can they?    Making the Volm "the real enemy" is just bad, bad, bad.   It did look like that's what they were going to do from the previews.

Come on, we are all just different species fighting over this big ball of dirt…

He's also very pissed off that he can't get any new minerals for his collection.

Nobody has mentioned my favorite of the year so far, Camper Van Beethoven's La Costa Perdida .

You mean like Pornucopia ?

Funny, given all the complaints Game of Thrones gets about killing off characters it seems like I seldom hear that complaint about Torchwood.

Yes.  I like both Sparticus and Vikings but they are good in totally different ways.   The former is gonzo and stylized and the latter is an interesting portrayal of a society that's very different from ours.

My work and social schedule got crazy and I've been very slowly finishing William Gibson's Zero History for a couple of weeks now.   Usually I'd burn through a book like that in a day or two.   Next in line is the new Carl Hiaason, Bad Monkey .

Spiegelman was at table at Comic Con on Sunday.  I didn't really have anything to say to him other than fanboy gushing about Maus so I passed on talking to him.

Yeah, that's the first song other than one of my own that I felt really confident singing and it is a blast to do with a band.   I was in bands from back in my high school and college days and would do an occasional lead vocal turn (or as I call it, "the George Harrison role") but was always content to play guitar or

You want a toe?   I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock.

I don't get the mean vibe from her at all.   But then I think she's so awesome she can pretty much do no wrong in my book.

Hopefully she'll give Sarah MacLachlan some if she wins, so Sarah can quit gardening too.

I feel like a dodged a bullet by nearly starting that series back when there were only 4 or 5 of those books.   I've been so glad I didn't after hearing so many complaints and seeing how bloated it got.
