@avclub-f16faf5d680d7b88e2e157c1c137c497:disqus  I disagree about the Shining.   Halloran's death is worth the long set up exactly because it is so unexpected.   He is there with his supernatural powers to save the day and then suddenly boom, he's gone.   The shock of it was the major dramatic payoff.

@avclub-7485b644403627612cc11d3e80ffa907:disqus  I think it depends on the ages of the nerdesses in question.   20somethings tend to favor the Doctor and more 30somethings seem to favor Star Wars.

Thanks to both.   That makes sense since it was a powerful scene in the pilot.   For some reason I'd assumed Morgan was one of the newly introduced characters in Woodbury and that people knew him from the comics.

Did anybody else catch the slide they ran about the differences between the the comics and the show?    The first one was about Morgan's wife, and I didn't catch who that character is?

I wouldn't expect Rick to murder the National Guardsmen.

For sure.   I think the writers were deliberately playing with that tension.
