new episode of I Don't Even Own A Television, taking on Mike Hammer

the difficulty is balanced wrongly, especially compared to something like Bayonetta

It's one of the greatest works of digital art, one of the best games ever. It's more hack and slash than shooting, got combat from Platinum who are the masters of combat, and each 'replay' is another chapter of the story

yeah the people stories and bandit hunting are boring

you can do that in Nier, kinda

the Ghost in the Shell remake came out around the same time as Nier. that was… unflattering

nope, i'm just describing Everything. it's awesome, it's by the guy who made the glitch episode of Adventure Time, get it

it says something about this year that Horizon Zero Dawn isn't even the best action game of the year about a female protagonist hunting robots in a post-post-post-post apocalyptic setting

from twitter @moist_apple

tldr: it's Super Mario Odyssey but arty

i tried playing Horizon Zero Dawn after Nier Automata, and I just couldn't care about it's posthuman world when Nier did it so much better.

Nier Automata and Everything are my top games of the year. They're both beautiful works of art -the end of Ending C/D and all of Ending E in Nier Automata belong in a museum. They both explicitly engage with philosophy, though Nier naming characters after philosphers is somehow more subtle than Everything's Alan Watts

Cracked always puts Faith No More in lists like this and everyone gets pissed off

this is the only time anyone will suggest VPNing into Australian content, instead of out of it

i have heard of both of these things, and i think i saw Deerhoof with Calvin Johnston

read Julian Cope's JAPROCKSAMPLER, it's an amazing book on the Japanese rock scene

the Yacht Rock guys have a podcast, Beyond Yacht Rock, and that was on an episode about undercover glam. songs you didn't know were glam rock covers

what about Unguarded Moment? i was at a poetry slam that Steve Kilbey from The Church judged… i lost. they keep doing interesting stuff, including a soundtrack for a Jeff Van Der Meer album

i'm so annoyed that they didn't have Monster Magnet's Ego the Living Planet on the Guardians 2 soundtrack. or Negasonic Teenage Warhead on the Deadpool soundtrack.

i was trying to remember that song! its so great
