Barney Miller was a fascinating character.  A decent, intelligent man who put his ambition on hold to reign in, teach and, arguably, watch life pass him by, to be a good leader/example to a bunch of all-too human cops.  An amazing character study.  Unfortunately, Hal Linden's marvelously nuanced performance may be too

TV shows, especially in the first few episodes, are still finding themselves and all evidence points to The Wire making McNulty its lead.  Dominick West is a solid actor but it seems like he nor he writers/directors could ever make that character pop.  Hell, Proposition Joe is more memorable than (Iforgethisfirstname)

If there's been any revision about my own background, it's been to make my early childhood poorer and more rough and tumble than it actually was.  The hardscrabble struggle can be, in its own way, romantic and (seemingly) empowering.  Shameful and dishonest, yes.  But we all do what we think we've got to do to survive

Maybe it's Don Draper's suicide in the opening credits but not Dick Whitman's.  The only way Dick can be reborn is by the death of Don.

Imagine the unlucky sucker who steals the dead Dr. Greg's dog tags.

Why do I think Abe would gladly give the police a full description of bourgeois Peggy?

While no "Zou Bisou Bisou," "Love is Blue" was the only number one billboard hit by a French artist in the 60's.  Thought it really captured the melancholia of the time (if they had closed with "Abraham, Martin and John" I woulda jumped out the window).

That's gotta be a fake mustache, right?

"Don't you wanna see Joe Namath in a straw hat?"  Sounds like a vision from one of Roger's acid trips.

When Joan told her pal earlier they were gonna pretend they "just two secretaries" that night, I think Joan was harkening back to arguably less complicated times. Making out with a young guy in a club was something a young Joan would have done before she "grew up" and was fully sullied by the ways of the world.

It was like the end of The Godfather with the juxtaposition of the christening and the executions — only more brutal!

If it was the Clash they woulda played "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"  Am I right?   Who's with me here?

Who else will Pete pimp out at SCDP?  That secretary who went out for danish?

Even in the worst sketch (which is saying something), Wiig is incredibly watchable.  She's got great straight acting chops but will run into a wall full speed for a laugh.  Plus she's an amazing mimic, a solid singer and, oh yeah, sexy as hell.  And that farewell dance…  like a poignant goodbye scene in a good movie

And what do the original version of "Zou Bisou Bisou" and the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never K nows" have in common?

Actually, the coast is a brilliant idea.  Get a couple big boats, yachts, sailboats, whatever one can navigate.  Live on the boats, make noise, sleep easy, never pull watch duty.  They're called "Walkers" not "Swimmers."
