I'd say Home Movies is one of the best shows not on this list. The plots were occasionally repetitive, but it was always worth watching due it's unique style of humour and comedy timing.
To anyone who wants to watch it, the whole series is up on youtube. The whole series is great but I find the 4th season to be a

I'd vote for the Homer finding sugar subplot, which was probably one of the most insane plots the show has ever done. It seems like such a mundane idea for a story, but somehow every joke is hilarious. Even small stuff like the crude design Homer makes for his sugar bags, to say nothing of his final speech which I'm

Did you wake up covered in web-slingings?

Forbes might not know shit, but O'Neal should be picking up on stuff like this instead of leaving it to the idiot commenters.

Nothing on here has ever been relevant or funny, but that's the whole internet for you!

Akon is a rapper now?

"Her arms look like the bones that a talking dog would dig up"
Maybe I'm just drunk but I laughed at this a lot. Sounds like the premise for a bad sitcom pilot.

Pears? Is AV club some kind of front for an underground Fruit Club?

HBO wants full control over their pricing/content, which they will be able to get on their own service. Especially in the future when internet streaming gains a larger market over TV.

So, what do you write, MikeMartz?

Takeshi Miike's Dead or Alive is pretty awesome (would also look great in HD), but unfortunately I don't think this is that version.
Haven't heard of half these so I'd like to know which of these are supposed to be good, Noel.

I recall an episode where Huey cannot launch a prison break out of some guy on death row due to his bedtime curfew, that's the stuff I'm talking about.
My position is this: If you are going to have a character talk, think and act like an adult then make him an adult, not a ten year old.
What does it say when a writer

Cartoonists speaking through kids
This has always been an annoying part of many, otherwise great, cartoons. Huey never came across to me as a child, he has the idealism of an older teenager and the articulation of a young adult. In this regard he is similar to Lisa Simpson or Bill Watterson's Calvin, who were both

I'd also say that Huey was the strongest character on the show, but because he was such an obvious mouthpiece for McGruder, he always went unchallenged. And McGruder's huge ego also makes Huey difficult to empathise with, he is always shown to be right in every episode, which is irritating for people who do not have

Nice point hot dogs, the realization of mortality is probably the strongest signpost to selflessness. I think people would be less scared about dying if they could take that away from this film, it certainly had that impact on me.

I should elaborate: I mean literal selflessness here (the concept that self is an illusion) , and it is not something that is mentioned explicitly in the review by Ebert or in the Primer above.
Ebert's review, for example, makes constant reference to "doing what is right" without elaborating on why Watanabe's actions

Ikiru
I don't think I have ever seen a seen a film that tackles the idea of selflessness as a route to happiness the way Ikiru does (or at all for that matter). The strength of the film is this central premise, but I have never seen it mentioned by either critics or fans of the film.
Are other people getting this idea

Thanks corn chips, this has been annoying me for some time. Anyone got any recommendations for which albums to get/avoid?

Help out a moron
Could someone tell me who this band is? I was going to buy an album of theirs months ago, but now I can't remember the name, so maybe someone can work it out from these half remembered details:
The guitar player died in the last 5 years or so, and the band released an album based around the ideas he

Def Jux is basically finished releasing anything from now on, there is a post on their site about moving away from being a traditional record company and just selling t-shirts or something.
