Had the very pleasant surprise to stumble on an ale festival at the pub. Tried something called the Relentless American IPA, brewed in Liverpool (go figure), it had unfortunately spent a little too much time in the cask (or not enough), it tasted a bit foul.

Darkstar is a brewery I really like, the one I usually go for is the Hophead, the name tells you what to expect. But if you can get any of theirs, it's worth a taste.

I was also pleasantly surprised by Monkey Shoulder, there's a lot more to it than the silly name.
As @Patrick_Batman:disqus says, it's a blended malt (formerly vatted whisky) and not a blended scotch, it will be a blend of single malt whiskys when blended scotch also contain grain whisky.

:Hangs head in shame:

Booze thread

Do people tell you you should as an absolute or because they know you and think it fits your tastes?
If the former, they are idiots (I love him but I'm with @avclub-09dbda0ec297f8e1fb8fa397efd0f70a:disqus in that no one has to like anything, certainly not a book); if the latter why would that be?

How else but because of the serious ensuing brain damage could you explain his then opinion of his movie? It took three years, but the surgeons did a sterling job.

The only ones I remember seeing are Toy Story 3 and Thor (there has been at least another one I can't remember at the moment as I have two pair of glasses but am 100% sure I remembered to bring them when going to see Thor, shows how impressed I was).
I vote gimmick, the only moments I thought it made sense was during

It happens; and yes, I count the experience as successful overall anyway. It's more to do with expectations I think as I usually really love what he does (enough that I once went to Paris mostly to see one of his works).
I actually returned this evening (I really like ballet) and I liked it a little more, still firmly

For that purpose you could just as well write: "Sofia Vergara has boobs", I doubt anyone cares what excuse we are given to look at them.

That one is just out, and was developed at the same time as the ballet (for it really), the bio says there is another one called The Adventuress which was the one that initially attracted the attention of the guy who got her involved with the Royal Ballet.

That one ended with "Always There, In Our Hearts", which felt right too, although they made it look like it was a last minute decision (maybe it should have been earlier in the set and they realised they had time for it after all); we also had "Race for the Prize" from before Yoshimi, which actually was a bit of a low

If you live abroad close to a consulate from your country, make sure they know you exist (register your new address go to whatever festival they are organising and join a mailing list), they'll let you know about what they're doing.

I'm not that surprised. I can perfectly see her having had a few classes on it, thought it was pretty cool, and decided it was the thing for her, without bothering to actually research the topic.

We have Monday off in the UK too, no idea why.

And I'll probably keep repeating to throughout these reviews that my favourite character and the one I relate to the most is Emily (even though we have absolutely nothing in common). One of the many things I love about this show is that it clearly has Rory and Lorelai as the main characters and we see everything from

I'm French, and I actually remember that when The Yards was released around there, most serious critics were ecstatic that, finally, after such a long wait, the auteur of Little Odessa was finally delivering his follow-up.
Auteur theory also still had a lot of traction in France, it takes something drastic for a

I must confess that I know little about African cinema (and don't understand the nuances of English well enough to react as strongly to the use of the word tokenism), but given how many articles analyse the main competition selection looking at geographical origin and gender of directors, add to that that Cannes tends

I don't know about best as there have been greatness throughout his career, but it's true they don't get the attention they deserve.
And I also like most if the shorts I've seen, which ones were you thinking of (the ones that were commissioned by mf girbaud or France telecom were indeed pretty terrible)?
