It took me a long time to take it seriously. I even quit in S2. Here's some advice: whatever happens, don't quit. People differ on how much they like it halfway through S2. But after that, there's no denying that it's performing on a ridiculously high level. It may be my favorite TV on right now.

You're in big trouble when Fox doesn't like the direction of a show.

Great. Another thing to worry about with that show. It looks like even kids know when a show has creative problems.

Yes. There was a reason Vince Gilligan thanked Netflix at the post-Emmys press conferences. The networks need to wise up. And fingers crossed.

You're not. A lot of people have problems with him as a love interest, but more importantly, so does Rhimes. It'll be really interesting to see how she deals with that on a soap where that central romantic relationship is so important. At some point, he'll probably be redeemed in some major way but who knows? This

That seems pretty important.

@avclub-5e550d516b252b5d3e9a239590372fed:disqus  Um I may or may not have been discussing that very subject last night with people on Twitter.

@sharculese:disqus  Good call. There still seems to be more to it than that with him. You know how certain people are targeted by cults because they're more vulnerable to influence? That's what his level of loyalty reminds me of. Ha.

They have my new favorite dynamic, for sure. Genius.

Take a moment. Picture the Scandal whiteboard. Then try to return to the reality you once knew. The mind boggles.

Thanks for your take on the racial implications of this episode. I also appreciated Sonia's. The show has addressed them in such an understated way so far. Consequently, when race does come up, it is extra powerful. I really hope Scandal continues to acknowledge race going forward because it has shown that it is

The fact that they structured last season like a cable season was perfect. I love how networks are even doing 13 ep seasons like with Sleepy Hollow. Anything to retain Scandal's quality because I just have no idea how they're going to maintain this pace. I saw Revenge and TVD go off the rails and I'm not looking

I used to have a problem with Abby, but when they use her bitchiness effectively, it's gold. I wouldn't mind knowing more about her previous life as an abused politician's wife. I love the idea of her as some bizarro world Alicia Florrick. The idea of her as this snarky first lady cracks me up, meanwhile that story

@orangeshoes:disqus He's long overdue. The character isn't bad, just underdeveloped.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that's one of the most memorable scenes of the fall season. It felt like a condensed bottle episode. The location of the bunker was probably unrealistic but damn, if it wasn't effective. The way Scandal has put its own political spin on tired soap cliches is so great. Reminds me of

They hinted at several things. She's hardened herself to deal with her father. She gets in dysfunctional relationships with older men because she has "daddy issues," or whatever, which makes me see her relationship with Fitz in a whole different light. I feel bad about it, but that aspect kind of makes me laugh. Her

@avclub-7dbdddc61ba879bff07c0e4e5b6e208a:disqus I find it kind of fascinating that Harrison is so into the idea. He seems to be the associate who's drunk the most Olivia Kool-Aid. He seems boring mostly because he hasn't been given as much backstory and stuff to do as the others, which is a shame. I'd like to know

The whole "gladiator" and "white hat" terms are so ridiculous but do
serve some important functions. First of all, few shows could pull crap
like that off and if any of them could, it'd be this one: operatic, over the top, everything cranked up to 11, but still quality.

Ha. I think I'd forgotten that S6 was your favorite. Awesome.

It's go time, people.
