@avclub-b9a25e422ba96f7572089a00b838c3f8:disqus Same. Korra may never be as good as Avatar but it may just take a while to get to those types of heights. Korra has had far fewer eps so far. For one, the team may be having problems adjusting to shorter seasons, which would explain the pacing probs. It just isn't going

@avclub-68c81a145181a6b3092221895a3fd1a9:disqus Story of my life. Most of the shows I try to intro people to are like that. I have to push them on people because they're underrated. Why are they underrated? Because they took a long time to get good. See: Buffy (though its rep transcended that), Dollhouse, Spartacus,

Book 1 of Avatar def had a lot of problems, which people should keep in mind while watching Korra. It took me a long time to get what the big deal was about Avatar but I trusted you guys and you were right.

These 2 eps were absolutely gorgeous. I guess they switched animation studios? I didn't get into Avatar until the first season's finale so I'm going to be patient with this series as well. So happy the network is making such a big commitment to the series with that renewal.

Aang's asskicking wasn't effortless until he commanded all of the elements. Korra is having trouble doing so.

Tenzen and his family are strengths of this series. Some of their jokes are repetitive but that's it. He's all quietly exasperated strength. The kids are silly but in an appealingly kinetic way.

Book 1 was in between. It took a while for Avatar to find its groove too. Have patience.

@avclub-7fd1d5cec910c61b1864a51eb7e18cbc:disqus We're so much better and nicer than Reddit. Harmon, get your shit together.

@avclub-7fd1d5cec910c61b1864a51eb7e18cbc:disqus We're so much better than them. And nicer I would think. Harmon, you don't even know.

@avclub-3da678392d5ac1ff456fe6e06354fdef:disqus You're probably familiar with her, but Alyssa Rosenberg is the feminist writer who interests me the most right now. But she specializes in pop culture.

Someone figure it out for me. I don't get Reddit.

@SpongyandBruised:disqus Oh God, Spongy, you just made my life.

I have no idea. My Soc/Anth undergrad degree and internship at The National Organization for Women were my only education in feminism. Well, my college was very liberal artsy so even the math classes probably involved some kind of gender analysis. Also my gut, experiences, and relationships with fellow females. Women

How much do you think Roger Deakins could do with 50 Shades of Grey or is it a lost cause?

@SpongyandBruised:disqus There were so many writing details I didn't pick up on because of the stupid crazy visuals. Plus sheer excitement. That's what the review and comments are for I guess.

Now if their writing can just get to that level, they'll be unstoppable. Korra you're fucking stacked! And for once I'm not referring to boobs! What, this show is on Nickelodeon?

@avclub-ec6e411553d04950c3225c1fbdc8d116:disqus *points the way to the dick sheath conversation in this week's Savage Love*

Fucking right, man, those episodes blew my fucking mind. It should be illegal to have animation that beautiful on television. I think Kiernan Shipka's on there too. Fucking fuck.

Aubrey PLAZZZZZAAAAAAA is on KOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAA

I was just thinking that exact same thing. What do I write? What do I tweet that could express my excitement. All is fruitless. The only answer is:
