And that's why it's the superior film. There, I said! I actually do like its smaller scale (and badass final swordfight) better than Braveheart. Braveheart's good, too, though.

I almost pitched the rhino! And it's funny, because i was trying to remember what movie it was where someone got absorbed by a furry, Muppety thing for a little bit in a way that's kind of comforting, but couldn't place what movie it was.

Well played.

Ha, that actually came to mind today once the piece was already to go. Wish we had included it, as I—get your tomatoes ready—actually like that movie a lot more than most people.

We decided that the criteria should be people who intentionally hid themselves (or others) inside animals, thus eliminating Pinocchio (both the book and film came up in conversation though, as did Jonah). We admittedly cheated a little bit with The Decemberists song, since the narrator doesn't technically plan to get

I'm also wondering if we're going to see more of Roberta's personality now that she's on her own (at least for a little bit).

Me, too! Maybe there'll be more virgins on the show.

I have a feeling they will! Ever since "World's Best Kiss," I've wondered if Fogelman's been setting it up so that Galavant and Isabella actually don't end up together. But we'll see…

I have to be honest—I'm not sure if I caught it. What was it exactly?

Patrick Ausgewahlt's probably right—I think they're just sticking to the formula set by Season One. While the two-episodes-a-night thing doesn't particularly bother me, it does make both of them a little hard to write about in a single review, as Galavant tends to cover a lot of ground with its story. Couple that with

You obviously know a lot more about musicals than I, and having only seen Into The Woods and Wicked once, I can't speak to those songs (although you're probably right about the references). I still say they were rapping though, at least in the traditional definition of the art form.

I think that's a correct assumption, although I think she's just generally flighty and self-serving, even as her feelings for Gareth seem to be genuine. I still wouldn't be surprised if the writers did a complete 180 and rekindled her feelings for Galavant in the last two episodes this season.

I mean, it's still hitting a lot of the basic story beats, and I think it's too early to tell what else it's going to pull from the poem. A direct adaptation of the original work would be a pretty short television show, so I'm fine with them expanding upon/altering things a bit.

Love The 13th Warrior! Supremely underrated in its starkness.

Did I write "Sauron"? If so, I'll correct it, but I don't see that anywhere. Re: your question about the books: I haven't read the full series, just the original trilogy when I was very young. I'm re-reading them now.

Ooo, does that mean we'll see him in the new X-Men movie?

Is the Reaper also the guy writing the green lizard-beast thing on the front of The Talismans Of Shannara? I don't think I ever got to that one as a kid, but I thought it looked really cool.

I agree wholeheartedly. Also, now I want a spinoff called Shannara: The Bad Son.

Yeah, it was one of the first lines that set off the "Stray observations" bell in my head.

It's a wonderful place for elf (and rover) tourists!
