Exactly. Let's not do the comparison, let's not do the "at least I'm not a fat pig" or "at least I'm not a skinny bitch".

I posted elsewhere in this discussion that I think "thin-shaming" is often seen as "punching upwards" and therefore less hurtful and damaging.
I see your point, but my larger point is that not all men are attracted to the same things. A lot of men may, in fact, be attracted to curvier women. Maybe it's a majority, I don't know.
But it always grinds my gears a bit when people say "men like curvy women".
It's like saying "men like sports" or "men like cars".
It…
So many things wrong with this post, in my opinion.
I do agree that fat-shaming is probably more insidious and hidden, coming out more as a bias than as overt remarks.
It may have something to do with the idea of making fun of thin people as "punching upwards".
As long as that stranger doesn't stubbornly try to initiate a conversation when I'm trying to read/sleep/listen to music, I think I'll be fine.
Thank you for clarifying. I have a pretty poor grasp of statistics and while that stat seemed a bit off to me, I didn't quite get why.
Definitely not to be missed, that one!
I don't watch Mindy Project so I hadn't heard that "you look like a woman" line, but honestly I can't see that as being body-positive. I feel like it's just another iteration of the mean-spirited, faux-feminist memes you see all over the internet that say things like "Real women have curves" or the lovely "Only dogs…
Exactly. Shipping fictional characters: fine. Shipping actual people and speculating wildly and invasively on their romantic lives: not fine at all.
You're not! I love both, but I do prefer Sam.
I agree. That plot was really cool!
Heh. You're right, for the most part, I don't think it does.
Less than 35% of people surveyed said they trusted the Second Chamber in 2014, if that's any indication.
If Adam came back as a big bad, he wouldn't have to kill the Winchesters.
They'd spontaneously combust out of sheer guilt at the mere sight of him.
No, it is advisory.
This outcome merely means that the Parliament will have to take the Agreement into consideration again. But I do believe that if our national government completely ignores the outcome of this referendum, it will severely undermine the already unstable faith this nation has in its leaders.
Baby was really, really great.
Okay, gelukkig! :)
It was kind of a dumb question on my part.
You're probably mostly right, but I still wish that this particular minority of the fandom would pipe down a bit. I'm only very, very tangentially involved with the online fandom (tumblr/instagram/livejournal and what have you) but boy I've seen some downright hateful and invasive stuff.
Sorry, I hope that didn't come across as rude, that wasn't my intention at all.
I just did some quick research and anyone with the Dutch nationality got to vote, as with regular elections. I thought there might be different qualifiers for a referendum, such as having been born in the country. I was wrong! Should have…
You're welcome!
Making that list kinda made me want to marathon the early seasons again…
