I started getting flamed on the games board for pointing out that none of the game reviewers actually reviewed the gameplay, writing instead about themes and feelings as if they had just come back from the Toronto Film Festival. So though I agree with you, you may not get much more support.

Don't worry about the spoiler, anyone who hasn't seen Fight Club yet probably wouldn't care.

You might be the only English-speaker who has ever heard of "Berlin Alexanderpantz," but I trust your judgment.

I don't think Baldwin spelled a whole lot out. Aside from the opening and closing expository segments, there was very little narration. Also the weight of that line—the fact that it started as a lie and ended as honesty—probably wouldn't be communicated with just a facial expression without being hamfisted and

"Immediately after Royal made this statement, he realized it was true."
Baldwin's best line of narration in the whole movie.

It seems I must comment upon the conduct of our dear friend Magnus again, though I may very well be giving him the attention he so relishes.

I'm a little late here, but I figured I'd make my speech to an empty room.

Play Plants vs. Zombies. You'll take that statement back.

If your review gives an F to a game no one knows about, does it make a sound?

Taking a break from flaming AV Club game reviews
and thanking the staff for actually telling me what playing this game is like.

HOOKSHOT OR I SELL IT BACK

Actually, the debut games on each console are the only essential ones: Legend of Zelda, Like to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess. The rest just seem to confuse a story that's already distended through the games I consider "canon."

I never got on the Ratatouille train, I thought it was good but it's not even close to WALL-E and Up.

Penny forgot "biology" for the exact same reason that "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader" is actually hard sometimes. How many times has a Cheesecake Factory waitress had to process the word "biology" in her brain since she was 17? Probably very few.

Holy crap
Really? A review of a cooking game? Come on AV Club, it's like you're mocking your own games section now.

Reasonable restrictions make the game interesting. If I can do whatever I want whenever I want, it's not very entertaining. Of course I can place those restrictions on myself, but if there is no in-game consequence for getting caught it'll get boring fast.

@Who82:

And the narrator of the movie is retarded. Coincidence?

Ever been to New York City? Even if you do go somewhere regularly, that other person will most likely be somewhere in the other thousands of bars in the city. Your existence can easily disappear from someone else's perception in NYC.

Games are now generally analyzed like any other kind of popular art, which is why RPGs are usually found to be game of the year or given sparkling reviews—they bring the best mixture of story, intricate gameplay and style. So when an FPS has a terrible story and shallow gameplay, it will decline in value despite
