I think with Sedaris the issue is how well you can relate to the essays, which I think changes as you got through different phases of life. My favorite in this book is the second one, about parenting styles, etc. It would not have been my favorite at all say, 5-6 years ago.  It would be fun to collect your favorites

A tie: as a child, possibly as young as 5, I was introduced to the Sesame Street book titled "The Monster at the End of this Book (feat. Grover). and Yertle the Turtle and other Stories.  Still love them, even more as a parent of preschoolers.

Wooooooh, if I had a nickel for every time I thought that about (almost every) Rod Stewart song, since about '75 at least.

W. Axl Rose make could chase all of them up a tree (..of arrogant artists.) He's the only one that would be pissed about any of these comments, mostly because no one remembered him.

Parental Endurance Test is the greatest description of G-rated family fare I've ever read. The next step is to develop a 1-10 scale based on degree of endurance needed to survive the experience., with 10 being "you will only be able to sit through this if also on heavy narcotics" , AKA Ice Age 3.

Celebith, This was my answer, too.  Increased jobs for murder-night clean-up +  fewer people claiming unemployment = a brighter economic future for everyone! Get on it, Team Obama.

How's the pie and coffee?

Gold! How much are they paying this guy? Sign him up for a Comedy Central Show!

Wasn't expecting something this strong from SK's son. Kinda makes up for the lack of review of David Sedaris' new book (which is awesome, by the way.)

Parenthood being renewed makes it official: I am nominating myself as the manager for the "Mae Whitman wins an Emmy in 2014" campaign. Only you can help me…get an Emmy win for Mae Whitman.

resume watching. You'd be caught up in a week. Seasons have been short but packed with good stuff.

Non-movie category:

Also in the "Just Like Heaven" camp for best Cure song and top 10 or 15 pop songs of my lifetime. Perfect in every way.

"second guessing" from the live show they bundled with Murmur is a good example of how even their sorta mid-tempo stuff really cooked when they played it live.

Almost as good as Linda Evangelista's "I don't get out of bed for less than 10,000" declaration.

Back in '89 apparently, the critics all decided there was only room big enough for one baseball movie, and, be default, it has to be the one with Kevin Costner. I love how time has made this one look better and better compared to Field of Dreams.

So, he doesn't talk….just….like……TTTHHIIIIISSSSS!!!,

Penguin, There'a new Robinson book out this spring as well (just look it up. Not pandering here.) Should compliment the movie well with some more emphasis on, you know, Robinson's heroics, and his life before the Dodgers, etc. Play ball!

The theory that its really like two different shows (seasons 1-5 and then 6-11 or so) makes sense to me, with the regulars being the thread all the way through to the end.

Tears are welling up just thinking about that finale. Perfection.
