It's just staggering to me that the Simpsons can air a character death episode and a Family Guy crossover episode on literally the same night and actually maintain the pretense that they're not entirely bereft of ideas and creativity.

City of God was so riveting, phenomenal and striking, it seemed unmistakable this this was a film that announced Meirelles as a gifted and innovative director for decades to come. Nobody's saying that we wouldn't continue to get good movies if/when celluloid disappears but there are certain qualities inherent to film stock that it would be a shame to lose entirely.
