The ridiculousness factor seems like a tough hill to get over in this film, but Penn's performances feels genuinely transformative. It's the kind of all-in commitment that the movie would have been entirely lost without.

@avclub-5351e766da507432ba6af62865e2488b:disqus Funny you should mention Pappy Van Winkle. One of the reasons King Henry is so rare and sought after is that it's aged in Pappy Van Winkle 23 barrels.

@avclub-5351e766da507432ba6af62865e2488b:disqus King Henry was a one-off, not to be brewed again, unfortunately. Your only shot of getting your hands on one would be to trade for it, but even that would be difficult unless you had a super-rare beer or two to offer for it. Sorry to get your hopes up!

For American style barleywines, I like Great Divide Old Ruffian and Alesmith Old Numbskull. English style, I like Midnight Sun Arctic Devil and Firestone Walker Abacus/Sucaba.

I enjoyed it. It can't quite sustain the momentum of how batshit crazy and hilarious it starts out, and it is disjointed, but the writing and narration remain entertaining enough to keep things going. I just picked up the follow-up, This Book is Full of Spiders, and it's more of the same, which is either great or…

In the time it took you to type all that drivel, you could have actually seen the movie and formed an opinion.

The thing is, in that moment and that moment alone, it was not about gender roles or relationships. Alex's reaction to the gun was purely instinctive, a life-preserving impulse (no doubt he would have done the same with a male companion).

We're home a lot, but we almost never entertain. While we're used to more space here in LA, we're obviously comfortable with the idea of having much less room in Brooklyn, as long as we'd getting more space than a comparable place in Manhattan.
