That the giant ominous sphere with the glowing red gun-like portal shown on the poster actually fires at some point during the movie is so obvious that I don't think that counts as a spoiler. Good looking out, though.

I'd like to be clear that, while in other places, I nitpicked the movie to death and gave it a B/B-, I enjoyed the ride. Michael Hiltzik's comments in the LA Times kind of hit the nail on the head.

Yes - but I don't think he ever said this was his dream job. If I remember correctly, he said it was the only job that "made sense." And, if I remember correctly Homer was a dishwasher in that episode where he and Marge meet while Marge is at summer camp. So the continuity seems to check out.

Yeah, if this was shorter and actually just an "alternate history," it really could have been great fun. Except for the murderous cult of suffragettes in purple KKK hoods. That's terrible no matter what the context.

Last season was just one big disappointment, really.
