Yes, that is a curious problem with annual movie lists. Melville's Army of Shadows was a similar situation a few years ago, and that ended up on many critics' Top Tens for that year.

I was of the opinion that this was a slightly disappointing year for movies, but this article has somewhat brought me around. I also have to admit that I've only seen 11/20 of these movies, and I watch a lot of movies.
