Super short version: Due to time-travel and alternate universe hopping shenanigans, the multiverse is starting to collapse and various Earths are getting smooshed together. For a longer version, read the Wikipedia entry for Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers run.

It's apparently very expensive and a huge pain in the ass trying to distribute through big box retailers - Jim Shooter's written about it.

Or the boob socks. Unless she's supposed to have boob armor?

Why not? Are studio executives known for their awesome fighting skills?

I pretty sure she's only writing a few issues of Adjectiveless X-men. I wanted a long-term assignment.

Nuts. I was hoping Wilson would take over one of the X-men books.

I think for an Internet book club to succeed, you need to have dedicated moderators scheduling and leading the discussions, like the AV Club did with Wrapped up in Books. Otherwise it's difficult to get enough people reading the selected book and showing up at the discussion time.

You appear to like Warren Ellis, so I'll recommend Planetary and Nextwave: Agents of HATE.

Yep, MU is great. I've found so many neat little one-shots and limited series I'd never even heard of. And so many of the classic runs are on there as well - I'm thinking about starting Simonson's Thor this weekend.

I'm on the fence regarding Sex Criminals. I thought it was really funny and clever at first, but then it moved into trying to hard to be clever. And the whole pooping-in-the-plant and making some janitor clean it up really made me hate Jon.

Oh, it's definitely X-men for me, too. I've read most of the X-books, including Austen's run, which is every bit as terrible as you've heard. Currently, I really don't care for Bendis, but I still can't help reading Uncanny and All-New X-men. Having a Marvel Unlimited subscription makes it easy to justify reading

What if it was a MAX series exploring her post-superhero life as a low rent private detective?

If it was New Avengers, then it was Bendis missing the point. And he does love his dumb in-jokes.

I'm of the opinion that anything Beaton does becomes the definitive version, especially Wuthering Heights, Spiderman, and those sexy, sexy Tudors.

It's really cowardly and disingenuous. Like the writers want the characters to be able to say these shockingly racist, sexist things, but don't want to deal with having actual racists and sexists as the star of the show.

Actual racism would be more unpleasant, but the fact that it's affected racism is what makes it obnoxious.

A writer could actually pick out the porn/ads/other people’s work and give them to Land, so that the panels at least somewhat resemble what the writer is trying to show.

I don’t hate Fraction’s run, but his trying-to-hard-to-be-clever
caption boxes were annoying, and I didn’t particularly care for how he wrote Emma Frost (in my mind, she’s a cold, self-made bitch, not some little girl lost). Also, the San Francisco relocation was dropped too soon for Utopia, but that may have been

X’ed Out/The Hive/Sugar Skull: This ended up being much more straightforward than I was expecting. I’m assuming that Dougie doesn’t know that if he really wants to get to know his kid/find his way out of the hellish underworld, all he has to do is go down to the courthouse and file a petition for paternity. Maybe that

I don't think you're missing anything. Forsman normally has a pretty simple style, that he's trying to adapt for an action/superhero look, and it's not quite working. But it is only the first issue, so he could improve it as the book runs.
