OUTLAW COUNTRY!

Cheryl alone makes it worth

Dreamland was brought down not only by the whole alternative universe thing (which I eventually got used to), but the sudden shift to serial narrative (quite possibly at the expense of jokes) at the same time. Danger Island and 1999 still take place in alternative universes but largely return to the sitcom-y,

The fun thing about Cyril is that while he is competent, he very easily slips into arrogance and ruins it all by himself.

I think 1999 turned out the best of the dream seasons. It was the only one of the three to put the original cast back in something resembling their original roles (albeit on a spaceship instead of a spy agency) and the new writers injected some fresh energy into the show.

Together in horrible tattootrimony.

The thing is, Cyril was always competent, even when he was just comptroller. It’s the fact that he was always bullied by Archer, Malory, and occasionally Lana, Pam, and Cheryl, that he lost his confidence and failed. That aspect was magnified in the coma seasons because Archer is incapable of seeing Cyril as an equal,

It definitely sounded like maybe Aisha and Jessica were recovering from colds when they recorded these episodes. They both sounded perfectly normal in Tuesday night’s live table read, so I assume it’s a temporary infirmity.

she’s the only woman for archer and the fact that both of them cant recognize that is the REASON she’s the only woman for him

I thought the exact same thing about Jessica Walter but she’s at or past 80, so age might explain her voice (or possibly, the death of her husband).  It was hard not to notice.

Just give me Archer and Pam getting married and being “happy” ever after. That’s all I ask.

Really hoping they let Lana stay married, although I kind of doubt they will. Lana and Archer as a couple was less fun.

I liked Danger Island and 1999 a lot more than Dreamland, FWIW. Dreamland was kind of dark and depressing for me, and Danger Island had some fun callbacks to Archer’s time as a pirate king.

Pam getting addicted to crack deserved it’s own PSA.

Archer firing his first new valet by screaming, “It’s 9:02!” yet being late for briefings habitually was hilarious to me. I sincerely hope it turns into a “Murphy Brown”-esque running gag for the season.

It is batshit and excellent and I’m jealous that you get to watch it for the first time!

She definitely sounds a little... weathered? Especially in Orpheus. I think it works for the episode, though.

I mean, I didn’t even talk about the season where they all quit their spy jobs to become international cocaine dealers/country music stars.

I thought Aisha Tyler sounded worn out--not as a character, but as if her voice was genuinely different. Maybe I was imagining it, but she was the only one who didn’t sound completely like the same person. Still two solid outings for the show--I’m glad it’s back.

Having never seen the show, this sounds like the writings of a crazy person. Which makes me want to watch the show. I like crazy people.
