The movie does a good job of embracing the key theme in a lot of Sloan’s books about the need to break away from societal repression and, perhaps more importantly here, to not let it infect and ruin the lives of the next generation. People write off fifties pop culture as being squeaky clean but much of it was quite

From those two names I have no idea which team is which

That seems like S2 thing after Icy dies stopping Brainy (or is killed by the heroes or such) and Jr blames Stargirl and Co.

Another great episode, but the CGI on S.T.R.I.P.E. looked a lil’ spotty to me at certain parts. And this is after, like, six episodes since we last saw him move. I predict we’re going to see him once next season when they work with a CW budget.

Think that would be cool, but I get the feeling we may see the heel turn come from Icicle in the finale.

I’ve actually read the Wilson novel, along with his other big one, “The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit.” Beyond being quite well written it is a fascinating indictment of repressive Mid-century American mores and values, particularly sexuality and consumerism in the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses fifties. Both the book and

It seems like they could manage the budget pretty easily by getting rid of the really expensive songs they’ve been using.  Or are those not expensive?

25 million deaths make it pretty cut and dry. ...but what if it hadn’t been 25 million? What if it had been 25? (Especially considering that those 25 would die from resisting so hard against acting like responsible, decent humans)

Haha, yes, at the beginning, Mike was complaining about being treated like a kid while playing with the powerdrill every time Pat tried to converse. “Then, stop acting like a baby!!” and 5 minutes later he was becoming the episode MVP by playing with that same drill.

I just loved the vibe from the scene where Cindy visited Courtney when she was laid up in her room & had a heart to heart with her like they were BFFs, while also fucking with her head & leaving with a casual threat. That vibe for them has such great potential I think

The solution is right there, throwing mind-mushing lightning straight at his brain right about now. During the fight someone damages the machine in even the slightest way and insta Brainwave-brain-puree.

She seems really committed to being evil. I think she’ll get to be the big bad at least once before this show is over. Something like Merlyn in Arrow, who ended up being a powerful ally just about as much as he continued to be a devastating enemy and never to be fully trusted  nor distrusted?

Some of my observations:
- didn’t care for Mike at the beginning - rightfully complaining about not being told anything, then when Pat tries to, complains he’s being treated like a kid and blows him off.
- I dug Crusher’s bouncing the baseball bat behind his back, that was a kickass move.
- I like the mom’s arc, not just

That would be very Wuthering Heights.

I remember being kind of astounded by how forthright the movie was about sexuality -- and in particular about endorsing extramarital teen sex (even if, since it’s a soap, it leads to an unplanned pregnancy; but in the context of the 1950s, the movie’s giving them a happy ending is pretty radical too).

Shit is getting REAL REAL, son.

I love that Cindy is still being a Mean Girl despite being holed up in the ISA’s dungeon.

Obligatory:

Of course, the ONE big plus of it being on the CW is they cancel almost nothing. If they are bringing back Batwoman with very mediocre ratings and after losing the star of that show, Stargirl will run eight seasons.

A Cindy semi-face-turn where she becomes a Huntress-like ally to the team while still morally pretty grey would make me so happy

I have no idea how they wrap it up... but I think they need to do something that kills or removes Brainwave and has the ILA memories wiped... not sure they can have Season 2 where they know the JLA and family’s identities.
