I’ve seen it many times. My mom loved it, even though she blamed it for starting her smoking. I’m trying to remember the last line, but it’s not as memorable to me as some of the visuals and other lines. Perhaps because I’ve never married, I lean toward, “It’s Aunt, every family has one.” But mostly if Claude Rains

Billy Wilder not only had “Nobody’s perfect,” but also “Shut up and deal.” and “Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” That man truly knew how to write an enduring last line.

Sometimes the obvious answers are obvious for a good reason.

General question, but why is no one suggesting game show hosts? It’s a specific set of skills, so why is everyone looking outside the field. It feels disrespectful to professional game show hosts to me.

Greetings from a Gen-Xer who still thinks of Watergate as the boring adult show that took off all the good TV when I was a kid. I didn’t know there was another generation out there like me.

My mind is currently boggling that the CBC didn’t want a guy with a mustache hosting HNIC in the era of Bruno Gerussi. That’s some hardcore cognitive dissonance.

You forgot solving murders in a village. That’s an essential segment of roles for older women.

High Rollers was not on Canadian TV. Even though I was a border child, I do remember which shows were on CBC and which were on American networks. I remember him because he was my favorite game show host before Jeopardy. He is not analogous to someone who only worked behind the scenes as far as name recognition goes.

You act like Trebek was unknown before he got Jeopardy! Far from it. He’d been hosting game shows for years. I remember particularly liking one with oversized dice, High Rollers or something. He was well known as a talented game show host, not a behind the scenes guy.

In my old kitchen I had a big one of those that was effectively my pantry. I had a lack of cupboards in that kitchen. It worked great for me.

That’s a shame.

I’ve always said that librarians should be allowed one day a year to call in “In the middle of a good book.” I said it jokingly during contract negotiations once and the head of Children’s replied, “You can’t already?”

Does a library have it on microfilm? Might be a longshot, but that’s the kind of thing people come into my library to find.

Jedward on Cats is so ridiculously funny! It’s the only thing I ever have or want to see of Jedward.

How many murders do you need to have to be Midsomer but with murders?

They’re teens. I had a coworker, years ago, who didn’t know there was a Pacific theater in World War II until we saw a film about it together. When we pressed him on why he didn’t learn it in school, he said his teacher spent too much time on the civil war and they ran out of time before they got to World War II.

Grundy got his own tacos vandalizing the restaurant last week. At least, that’s my take on why they showed the article.
