I thought the Five Obstructions was a very good movie. I was thoroughly entertained and felt like I got to see a bit of von Trier's creative process at the same time

TIL that you can see who liked your posts

I'm in a country music history class, learned a lot of shit, mainly, early country music is badass and fuck you

Wait, so Ali just refused to be drafted? You could do that?

the level of snark today is outstanding

Yea, that ep was great. He travelled back in time by chain smoking and eating a big pile of bacon

My favorite Fairport album is Unhalfbricking as well. The Ballad of Easy Rider, Autopsy, and Who Knows Where the Time Goes? are just endlessly replayable and the rest of the album is very good too. Liege & Lief definitely has a folkier sound to it though, although Full House takes it even one step further

for me it was Jackson C. Frank. Blues Run the Game was so simple and yet amazingly powerful. of course the rest of his stuff is really good too and you can hear his influence in countless players. Bert Jansch's passing really hit me hard too. it was actually the moment that moved me to go back and listen to his music

Traffic was never really a folk band in my opinion, if anything I saw them as one of the jazziest/r&b rock bands of the British rock scene in the 60s/70s. Great songwriting and lots of sax/flute/piano, as opposed to the guitar-heavy music being put out by their peers

'Nothing More' has one of the most powerful guitar solos I've ever heard, worth the cost of that album alone

The version of Tam Lin on there has some of the best guitar ever!

Didn't even read the article yet, just excited to see this on the AV Club! I've been listening to Pentangle, Fairport Convention, Jackson C Frank, and Nick Drake almost non-stop for the past month or so and I just can't get enough of it. By far my favorite style of music, just so so good!

THANK YOU. Worked in AdBlock on Chrome just as well

Martin: Bowfinger, PT&A, The Jerk
Candy: PT&A, Great Outdoors, Home Alone

My parents let me watch this as a kid and I remember thinking that scene was one of the funniest in the whole movie. Of course, I already knew the word 'fuck' but I also knew it was a word you weren't supposed to say so it made that scene really stand out to kid-me for having the balls to say 'fuck' so much

Not until I read your post, but goddammit was that not one of the most unexpected and sad moments ever in 24

For what it's worth, at the beginning of the episode he did that head-tilted-down eyes-looking-up fucking crazy stare that Kubrick was famous for using (for reference: http://illumine9eyes.files…. ). I had a feeling some shit was going to go down before we caught back up to that scene

A few observations:

Let's get the same girl pregnant tonight!

When Rafi told Ruxin to come sit on his lap and drop a double deuce, I nearly died laughing. This show is on a hot streak right now! Also, the rest of the season should be pretty damn good. Notable plots involve meeting Ruxin's dad (Jeff Goldblum) and one of the out of town guys in their league (Will Forte)
