Just watched the 2nd one. It's definitely weird, and a lot of it was definitely "off" (mostly because of the stuff you said,) but I didn't hate it. There was some decent stuff in it, and it was still pretty funny.

Apartment 23 is pretty good. I watched the pilot with pretty low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I love the voice too. "My bestest buddy in the whole world… Mr. Black." So fantastic.

Can we call you Uncle Blacky?

Beyond the Sea is my 2nd favorite - Jose Chung's is the only one that beats it.

I agree. I actually think this showing is developing in really interesting ways. It deserves more analysis than it's getting.

HIMYM can be pretty great sometimes. But this show… definitely not.

This is exactly how I feel about Happy Endings. I want to like it, but it rarely strikes me as particularly funny or genuine.

Yeah - the use of "broken" really annoyed me. I would have been fine with the way it played out if that hadn't been said.

Lisa's been pretty fantastic lately, between this one and last week.

Yeah - between this and the Thanksgiving episode, Emily Kapnek definitely seems to write the best version of the show. Both this and that one are episodes that delved a lot into the supporting characters, yet didn't feel too overstuffed or manic.

I think the opposite as well. When it's too viciously satirical, the characters get compromised. The best episodes of this show, like the Thanksgiving one, are usually the most measured and "real" episodes.

I actually think Tessa is fairly likable, but I agree that they need to deflate her ego sometimes like they did in this one.

I'm not saying that comedy is irrelevant, and I certainly like funny stuff. And as others have said, ideally you can combine good characters and comedy in a very nice way.

Eh… I agree with Todd, actually.

I agree. I don't think there's a will they/won't they out there that's better than this.

I agree. I've always thought that one way to make this show better would be to directly address some of Jess's annoying behavior, and this episode did that in a great way.

I am disrespectful to dirt! Can you not see that I am serious?

I disagree - I liked several episodes in season six, and seven season, though weaker, still had a few bright spots. Season eight is very underrated as well.

"Jose Chung's" is definitely my favorite X-Files. So amazing. I know most people prefer "Clyde Bruckman's," and while that's great, it doesn't have quite the same impact for me.
