We still show it to the 8th graders on the bus trip to DC every year. Even the kids who are too cool for everything seem to like it. So, that's something.

Nothing unique about my situation.
15 when I saw it.
Couldn't wait to be a DJ in college.
Absolutely smitten with Samantha Mathis specifically, and that archetype, generally.
Overall, I like the movie. I knew a lot of it, and there are a couple of things I think the Hollywoodization took, um, liberties with, but like most biopics, it's more geared towards my wife and her nominal acquaintance with NWA/hip hop rather than someone who's listened to it for three decades.
Agreed. I actually thought he did a pretty damn good job. But, what the fuck do I know?
If only the movie gave him more than 15 lines to let the casual moviegoer know that…
And, in fact, Cube was taking a shot AT Eazy with that line.
I wish Scientifik had survived…he was primed to make a huge jump.
I like REKS a lot. Term is a bit repetitive to me, but I know how much work this kid put in, and the support of his family and friends was huge, so I'll always respect that.
And, as a current Tewksbury resident, "shit hole" may be too kind for Lawrence.
Revolutionary Generation is in my Top 10 PE tracks, and doesn't get nearly enough love, in my opinion.
When I welcome my students to my class every year on the first day (7th grade math), I start by saying "Welcome to the Terrordome".
Not even the lameness of Cube's verse, just the fact that I wonder what current-day Ice Cube thinks about what his former self said. Obvious "Are We There Yet?" joke and all that.
Lyrical Gangbang, too. Not to mention the $20 Sack Pyramid, which has influenced the way I've said "Halle Berry" for two decades.
The Pharoahe/Royce/Jean Grae track from a couple of years back is terrific.
I just love that the allegations, the lawyers flying in, getting into a court room, and the unfolding of the whole case was, what, under three hours?
Right? I remember choosing to not play his record on my college radio show in the mid-90s.
No doubt - PRhyme was outstanding. I don't know if Crooked I can carry an album, but he's a major positive on any track he appears on. I like Joell more than most people do. I guess the group being Budden's idea keeps his roster spot, but…maybe make it a 5-man gang?
This has been my problem with the project from the beginning - this should have been a straight documentary instead of a biopic, but I know I'm going to be disappointed in how little Ren will be portrayed, since they can't/won't even put him in the trailer.
I have some of the earlier Jon Connor stuff, and he's a very good-to-great rapper who sucked at picking beats. I still think he should replace Joe Budden in Slaughterhouse, but maybe Dre can give him something to work with now.
Honestly, some of these current artists could stand to take a little MORE time between releases and make sure that they're worth releasing. But the with the average attention span being less than a De La Soul skit these days, it's a battle to stay relevant, I guess.
I didn't realize there was a Scarface book - I just added it to my Amazon list.
Esh-kosh-KAAAAH!
