They didn't say that, and she did go into labor. I suspect that was a fanwank.
Right? This album sounds like a hoot. Honestly, a couple of these interest me. More than were on the "Best of" list this year. I have very uncool taste in music.
Yeah, I remember watching this episode first-run with my sister, and we both sat up and said, "Whoa!" when she staked herself.
Andrew said he has all of Doctor Who on DVD, even though real nerds know is IMPOSSIBLE, and was even less likely in 2001. But most of the nerd dialogue is on target.
Yeah, it's a good one. I think a lot of Darla fans got that way retroactively after this episode.
I like it a lot too. It's gorgeous and darkly sexy and sad. I totally stand behind this season as one of the best-ever depictions of Early Twenties Bad Decisions Time.
Smashed's Ending
I think your feeling is correct, Noel - cutting between Willow and Amy's self-absorbed abuse of magic and the Buffy/Spike scene, where their passion expresses itself in a literally destructive way, is meant to be unsettling.
I LOVED Quantum Leap back in the day, but it doesn't hold up as well as I wish it did. I caught a few episodes a couple of years ago and was disappointed, and now I'm afraid to watch any more.
They just announced it a week ago, and they've already moved it? Oh well. I've waited 20 years, another two months won't kill me.
Car 54, Where Are You?
The first season of this show finally is hitting DVD in February. It's such a fascinating cultural artifact, showing more of the diversity of NYC in the early 1960s than most shows from that period. I'm considering starting a blog specifically to dig into it. One of those might be a good…
I've always loved this one. I'm a sucker for things that are funny and crushingly sad at the same time.
I was going to say the New Year's Eve party from the second Thin Man movie, which is even boozier and more raucous. Any of Nick and Nora Charles' parties would be at the top of my list though!
Trivia!
The "they got the mustard out" guy is writer-producer David Fury, and the lady singing about the parking ticket is writer-producer Marti Noxon. They also had singing cameos as newsanchors in "Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog."
On one of the commentary tracks on the Community Season 1 DVDs, Dan Harmon talks about the fact that they rag on Glee because Glee shoots next door to them, and ratings-wise Glee is the popular kid to Community's overlooked misfit. But he insists they don't actually hate Glee.
So looking forward to this
My birthday is Saturday, so I'm getting a bunch of girlfriends together to go see this at a theater that serves alcohol. I suspect we'll have a wonderful time. I get the impression the filmmakers have made exactly the movie they set out to make, so I don't see this as a "bad" movie - just…
There is infinite time and message board space.
Pseudo-Death to Pseudo-Buffies
I vote that fans should not only never see this movie, but also boycott this screenwriter and whoever the director is forever, because how dare they!
I've always loved Season 6. A friend of mine used to say that your twenties are just your teens with bills and no parents, and this season is a perfect illustration of that. I don't know anyone who wasn't massively screwed up or self-destructive or otherwise pathetic in their early twenties.
I thought it was really heavy-handed as well, and I take issue with the concept of "primordial misogyny." Misogyny isn't an instinct. It's an all-too-common problem, but it's not part of a man's DNA.
