I dont think Gelman cared. Glaser was magnanimous in the end and hugged it out. I think they were both put off by the whole show being a dud before they were onstage.

The problem seems to be that what she first asked for she got many times over. Then she inflated her goals with the project but not so far that she'd kick a little money back on this crowd-sourcing musician thing. If her fans were nice enough to fund her ten times her original goal, she should be nice enough to allow…

Part of the problem with Todd's seriousness is, again, that he's so scattershot. He's so consumed with being politically correct, reminding, then re-reminding he doesnt want to offend, and second guessing himself, and third guessing himself about whatever topic, it becomes this off the rails mess when he's trying to…

I've complained about Louie getting too guest star centric this season (like Posey, Leo, and Sevigny retreading stuff they are *indie* well-known for). I really loved the early episodes for all the colorful unknowns. But in the case of this episode, Leno and Rock fit the story and Lynch fit the mood; they all made…

It wasnt a laugh filled episode, sure, but I think this arc isnt really about laughs, its about the strange, opportunity/fame-you-never-wanted side of the business. As such, the bit with Lynch miming to the fake applause pretty much sealed this episode as a success for me.

I think the importance of casting Lynch all comes down to this character being a weird vessel out of time, otherworldly, and that is very much the Lynch persona. Lynch's own stabs at comedy are very anti-comedy stilted, thus its very meta to have him, and not some other actor (well, maybe Chris Walken), mentor Louie…

I'm meaning the term, not the music. I listened to all this stuff when it came out but I never heard it defined as "shoegaze" by anyone until '98 or '99. I always figured it was a term that came about *after* the genre not during the genre.

I agree, there are a few Todd Glass episodes that are stellar, and you mention some of them, but overwhelmingly Glass is too damned scattered. I get that the looseness is his thing, but I dont think he realizes that his pot and ADD-hazed mind actually kills bits and hampers his guests. Increasingly its less, "Hey…

Maybe its an American thing, but despite being a huge college/alternative music nerd, I never heard the term "shoegaze" until well after the subgenre was over. Am I alone in this?

Its just "Sunn" you don't pronounce the o))) (its just a logo). Or, if you want, you can just say "Sunn," and then make a long distorted droning noise, kick up some fog, and fans will understand.
