LOL I'm sure you're the type to think that every conspiracy theory is the most plausible explanation as well.

Because it's a huge stretch to go from Ted being sad about something that might be vaguely related to mothers to the Mother is dead.
1. She's not.
2. There was no "hint".
3. Hence, there's nothing to follow up on.
The "mother is dead" nonsense is by far the worst thing to come out of
this last season, and I'm including all the lame crap the show has
actually thrown at us this last season.
They already flash backed to young Ted letting go of the balloon right before that sequence…but of course they needed to add a cheesy, poorly done visual FX scene on top of that to really hammer it home to the average thick headed CBS sitcom viewer.
They were terrible. I can't believe screen time was wasted on two randoms I couldn't give two shits about.
This episode ruined everything awesome from the last episode.
I agree. The fast paced nature of the episode made it so that I couldn't really care about Louis, the mother breaking up with Louis, or the unseen dead ex boyfriend.
At risk of getting pulled further into a race discussion, I only ask that you ask yourself if your "very white self" truly understands why something like yellowface, or blackface, or any other kind of racial slur or stereotype directed towards a minority is offensive. Ask yourself if it's ever possible for you to…
Yes, as an Asian American, it's annoying reading these comments from presumably white AV Club users telling me what I should or should not find racist. I'm sure their intentions are good but they don't seem to realize this brand of patronization is an issue by itself with regards to race relations.
An episode of TBBT must take forever to shoot then.
This show should get rid of the Five Caricatures and just feature Cristin Milioti all the time.
Surrounded by 15 cats and voodoo dolls of people who have "wronged" him
You are making the mistake of believing that Jim's dream is to become some sports marketing guy with Athlead when the whole point of the montage and his speech to Dwight was to make it clear that his dream is just to be devoted to Pam.
The bottom line is that they're all terrible for each other. Ted and Robin are terrible for each other. Barney and Robin are terrible for each other.
Scrubs did it.
I agree with everything else but regarding 3), the cost of a loft + one time costs of those other amenities are a lot more affordable than paying 10-15 people a regular full time salary. Plus, I'd imagine having a trendy, hip outward appearance would definitely matter to a start up sports marketing firm.
So Barney ends up with the girl Ted thought was The One and then literally hits Ted in the nuts? Oh, poor Teddy Westside.

He played Ted excellently in the last scene as he was staring out the window. It was the perfect combination of sadness, joy for his friends, and hope.
