Absolutely unintentional. Nguyen had a hard time adjusting to being a Midnight Movie hero. YouTube some interviews of him and watch his body language. I doubt he fully accepts that his film cannot be taken seriously. He's not as diluted as Wiseau but you can tell he thought his film had serious artistic merit.
