God Collateral is so fucking sweet, and Javier Bardem brings all sorts of panache to a five minute role.  Definitely one of my favorite action movies of all time.

Finished Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons.  It was a fun, propulsive read (and holy shit was there a high body count).  I think Simmons maybe tried to cram a little too much in there; when every single secondary character gets killed off almost immediately, the impact of these deaths lessens considerably.  That could

Gunslinger is good, and The Drawing of the Three (the second) is full on great.  Don't bother with any of them after that.

I agree with everything you say (had pretty much the exact same quibbles downthread).  Bond not shooting him on the ladder is damn near unconscionable.  I think the good parts outweigh the bad though (the fight with the sniper done in silhouette was cool, the motorcycle chase, the scorpion shot, other things I'm sure

For my money, the hand-to-hand fight between Bond and Trevelyan atop the satellite at the end of Goldeneye is as good a sequence as has been shot in a Bond film.  Right up there with the Connery-Shaw fight aboard the Orient Express.  Just two guys beating the piss out of each other, no gadgets, no henchmen, just a

Ah yes, liberal use of derp, a sure sign of an incisive and thought provoking post.

I just watched that movie on USA the other day.  It wasn't just controlling water rights; it was raising the price of water in BOLIVIA by FIFTY PERCENT.  Get Her Majesty on the phone and send in everyone we got, some poor farmers in La Paz won't be able to afford another burro!  Why, next thing we know this evil cabal
