If you want a really extreme example of key shifts there's Tommy Roe's 1969 hit "Dizzy." The key is constantly in flux to reinforce the lyric "I'm so dizzy my head is spinning." It's a cool effect.

If you want to go back even further than Priest try ZZ Top's "La Grange" solo from 1973. That combination of a stop followed by an upward modulation into a guitar solo ended up becoming a staple of heavy metal.

Yeah the mid-song modulation became a bit of a cliche in the '60s. I used to listen to a lot of oldies radio and the modulations would annoy me at times. There were too many of them, and frequently they added little or nothing to the song.

Venom's "Schizo" off their 1981 album "Welcome To Hell" has a very obvious upward modulation for the guitar solo that kicks in at 1:50. This is a record that the Metallica guys have cited as an influence.

Modulating upwards for a metal guitar solo was already a well-established concept when Metallica did it. Venom was doing it a few years earlier, and Priest before them.

"I Got You Babe" is a pretty good song that would suck without its key change.

Thumbs down on the inclusion of Afternoon Delight, Careless Whisper, Africa, and Take On Me. Those are good songs.

Sounds like a dare, Vince.

What's really alarming is Williams might be telling the truth about "misremembering" his rousing tales of derring-do. It would mean that "journalist" Williams concocted a heroic fantasy version of himself that he actually believed to be real. That's arguably even more of a red flag than being a common liar.

I agree with OP. If this is a rich character then his entire history shouldn't be compressed into one episode. Imagine compressing Walter White's backstory into one episode.

Lydia had a lot of backstory that was only vaguely hinted at. I'd like to see more of Lydia's career at Madrigal. Madrigal looked like an environment that could be built up to support a new show.

I still want Lydia to have a spin-off. Gus can get involved with that one, with Mike making occasional appearances.

All material related to The Sound Of Music is seditious. It undermines our alliance with the neo-Nazi regime in the Ukraine; by extension, that is an attempt to undermine the authority of our Commander in Chief.

King Diamond's banshee falsetto would be fun to hear over some understated acoustic guitar.

Joni Mitchell. Grace Jones. Carole King. Cher.

Phil Leotardo: "We're friends of your son, from Alcoholics Anonymous."
Joanne Moltisanti: "What's your name?"
Phil Leotardo: "We're anonymous."

I seen worse.

The pond monster can be a playful cat in a cardboard box. I've had cats that will crouch in a box and swat at anyone who comes near.

One of the primary qualifications for being a cartel accountant is discretion. If you try to impress people by saying "I'm the accountant of a drug cartel," you've just outed yourself as an incompetent idiot, which is the opposite of impressive. It's a catch-22 that you can't get around.

Richard Carpenter is awesome in his own right. The Carpenters' sound is entirely his creation. He thought it up and had the skills to put it on record. That's a hell of an achievement. It's a very lush, complex sound, and he knew exactly what to do with Karen's voice and which songs would work best for her.
