I've been expecting AM radio to gain some hipster chic for a while. It's the next logical step after the cassette revival. I bet you could market "AM remasters" to a niche audience. It would be familiar favorites recorded from an AM broadcast, played on a crappy car radio. I might enjoy some of those. It would letā€¦

Girls aren't real. Have you ever tried to look inside one? Their insides are simulations of human tissue. You can tell the difference if you know what to look for.

Star Wars Holiday Special? Also very boring and very strange.

I still buy CDs on a regular basis, and ALWAYS it's music I sampled on youTube first. Maybe I'm an outlier, but youTube has facilitated getting my money into the hands of artists I like.

I love Zodiac. I've seen it about 10 times and I doubt I'm done with it.

This is Carrey's only project I like.

Bad news: Turns out that Thom Yorke impersonator was really Thom Yorke.

First five. Sabotage is semi-optional as #6, but not really. More like semi-semi-optional, so 75% mandatory.

You keeping only We Sold Our Souls For Rock ā€™Nā€™ Roll? WTF?

Is this movie still popular?

Now I can finally make a DVD of my mint VHS copy of The Star Wars Holiday Special. This is what technology is for.

That's sad. I just wanted to mention that I like the new Blood Ceremony record. E. Buzz would want me to mention that.

I agree that current nerd culture has been infected by anti-intellectualism, but that's an inevitable by-product of it becoming co-opted into the mainstream. To continue the alternative rock analogy ā€” a co-opted movement may start with smart stuff like Nirvana, but it will always end with moronic crap like Candlebox.

Today we have Edward Snowden as a hero for adults. Our pop-culture refuses to create fictional heroes for adults, so he had to step up and be a real one.

The term "nerd" has become utterly devoid of its original connotations of underdog status and thinking outside the box. It's very much inside the box now, dumbed down, and juvenile. Expressed in the context of alternative rock, nerd culture has entered its Candlebox phase.

B-? Fer fuck's sake. This episode is some seriously clever and funny shit.

Where is the Russian from the pine barrens?

King Diamond lives on.

Newcleus' "Jam On Revenge" has a great time-machine quality, as does lots of early rap. For dated rock, Loverboy is my favorite. Loverboy was actually a really good pop-rock band, and their songs are enhanced by being hilariously dated.
