Yeah, "It was a dark and stormy night" has a pleasing rhythm, you can't say the same for the rest of the sentence (especially that parenthetical). Actually, you have a conjunction, a semicolon, an em dash and a parenthetical all extending that sentence, that's the real crime, the overblown language is sort of charming.

Ah, fellow Scrooged apologists. I wouldn't say it's the appropriate time of the year to watched the movie — it is always an appropriate time to watch Scrooged — but it is an excellent time to bring others to our cause.

Dang, was hoping for an actual zombie pregnancy/birth, that could make for a dark movie a la It's Alive or Zombie Honeymoon.

Cool, thanks! A bit more melancholy than the Breeders version.

It's so sweet and easygoing. I'll have to check out the original.

Fishbone's The Reality Of My Surroundings is in way too many used CD bins, although it's somewhat consoling to think it might more easily be found there.

There's a Boston band in the mold of Buffalo Tom called the Modifiers, and they did a cover of Divine Hammer that may be better than the original, it's sloppier but also more joyous. It's from a tribute to Kim Deal, apparently? Anyway, it's awesome: https://myspace.com/various…

You could probably get a good show out of The Tempest. Bunch of people with shifting allegiances stuck on an island at the mercy of a capricious overlord, what's not to like?

Yeah, he feels in some ways — both the awfulness of his actions and the clear hatred of him from the person writing him — to be a lost character from Ennis-era Hellblazer. The rich not only are shits, but they shit on you.

Hey AV Club! You owe me a new monitor, I scrolled down to the still on that film clip and intuitively punched my screen. What a loathsome, vile being that is.

Season 5, where Danerys and the gang animate the giant Astapor harpy and march it through the streets as a way of encouraging patriotism and good feeling, will be generally condemned while retaining a cult following.

I've outlined my theory before about how Fraser, after a wonderful run of friendly lunkheaded doofusity, passed the torch a little while back to Sean William Scott.

I thought of Living In Oblivion as well, maybe as a barista he walks around the main characters with the coffee juuuuuust out of reach.

Long: Not in THE CORE
Qualls: In THE CORE

I think even 12-year-old me, who was greatly amused by the Jerky Boys, though there was something weird about making a movie about them.

"That he seemed to have stolen most of the attitude, if none of the insight, directly from Bill Hicks made Leary even more
the “Asshole” he proudly declared himself in his hit single—an anthem
for an audience that was similarly, generally angry, though not about
anything particularly important or too politically

"Fuck me in the goat ass!" is still in regular rotation for me. Good god did we listen to those two albums a lot.

If by "inspired" you mean "copied directly from the text via Achewood's search function," then yes.

I take it all back. 1993 Week has been fully justified with this anecdote, which even if it's not from that year could be easily placed in the 1993 time capsule. I can't even imagine the awfulness, no offense staircar
