Yeah, Untucked flips the script on the Mimi sympathy angle that's more apparent in the main episode.  The kiss was just a part of the photo montage in the show so it was easy enough to assume they'd at least agreed on it beforehand.  But unplanned, never asked for?  I wouldn't want to work with someone after that.
