…but it's a real thing. That effect does exist on television and in the movies. I admit that when I see something on TV that doesn't seem to be working, and that character is a minority — yes, I raise my eyebrows and am suspicious of network tampering. Just like with affirmative action, there is a downside to PC

Sorry, my direct answer is that you were spot on with your interpretation of what I wrote. I am taking a position where affirmative action can create an effect where a show is ruined by the network. Of course I don't have anything against an Asian role in the series. There could be a ton of characters of any racial

Yes, all I was curious about was if the guy was Asian in the comics. I kind of feel the actor is a bit of a wet blanket. Don't get me wrong, I root for him when he does something cool like fight his way out from underneath a dumpster, but the part is just kind of lackluster most of the time.

Well, you may be right, but I think you're missing the idea that race can be synonymous with culture — that there are characteristics and broad sociological trends associated with different groups. An old might not fit in with a young. A big might not work well with a small (or the opposite may be true). On TV, we

Yes, I don't think the character works because he's Asian. I also probably don't think it would work if he was a white guy from the Northern US. On the other hand, I think you could put a Southern black person in that role, and that might work — but, hey, who am I to rewrite the story. I thought the networks might

Wait, I didn't mean to offend you people.

Well, sir, I wasn't certain you were done abusing me yet, sir.

Well, now that I know that the character was Asian in the comic, I look at it as something that Kirkman wanted to explore — the whole idea of a square peg in a round hole. He gets hooked up with Southern white people. He falls for a Southern white woman. That's apparently the way it was meant to play.
I just don't

Yes sir.

I'm kind of surprised that I can't ask a question without you jumping to the conclusion that I'm a racist. White people may have white skin, but they are made up of English, French, Italian, Romanian, etc. It isn't like Wonder bread. Can I say, is the character that plays Glenn in the comics Italian, because I

Am I the only one that thinks Glenn's character is something that doesn't work in the show?

Exactly right.

I was just curious. I am glad they were true to the comic then. Thanks.

There are always articles about how networks have to beef up minority representations in shows. How else do they do it but not with formulas? Formulas can't be seen to have bias.

Make 'em all Asian. I think those Karasawa movies are awesome.

Don't you get tired of the formula, i.e. this show must have 5% Asian, 10% black, etc.? Don't you think that limits or changes the landscape of the show? I don't dislike the actor playing Glenn, but I'm just not sure it "works".

In the comics is Glenn an Asian dude, or was that just some kind of network PC bullshit?

I might panic and break into The Aristocrats.

Don't know where the roast experts are going to go with this one. He's good-looking, hard-working, not too dumb, gets girls, … maybe they'll try to imply he's homosexual. Ok, he's getting older…not much else to work with.

It's pronounced yutes.
