Agreed!

Ha! Just two of MANY. She's a great actress. It was just a very weird thing to say about someone who has such a long list of great roles.

What a terrific, original, entertaining, splendid movie. And, yes, extremely complex. Often extremely hilarious, the movie becomes incredibly moving by the end. By the time (spoiler alert) Harvey and Joyce adopt the young girl, it is evident he has become a remarkable American hero of the best sort, one that reminds

"Bonham Carter hasn’t had much of an opportunity to wield her acting chops"

I loved the episode as well. I don't get all the bitching… I loved Season 2 as much as 1, and I am thrilled to be back with all these people and the excellent craftsmanship of, well, everything. I like how the show runner admitted the one storyline that did not work right last year was the hit and run. Indeed. But

Excellent write up! Just watched the episode and you are spot on. I, too, worried about amnesia. But I am loving the show, still. Damn, the chemistry between Rayna and Deacon is incredible. Those early scenes were terrific. Love the show.

Terrific piece of writing, Sir Todd. Wonderful.

ha ha.. but when it is well done, honestly, with strengths and flaws… but then, who needs good men, I guess?

I vehemently disagree about Jack. Ultimately, he is the heart of LOST. The show begins and ends with him, he holds the entire thing together. He is a true hero, flawed, complex yet with all his flaws, a very good man ready to sacrifice himself for the good of everyone else. Matthew Fix's performance was always

I love it. Definitely a big screen movie, the scope etc doesn't work at home. It's maybe my favorite Meryl performance (tough call, though) and even with Redford miscast, it all works for me. Her relationship with her head steward grounds the film. When they part at the end, it slays me. Episodic, sure. But so many of

I agree. It's an amazing performance… but she is so strong and full of life, the end doesn't quite work. Still, it's a terrific film with great acting all around.

Bingo :)

This is prime for a great BluRay makeover. I wish Criterion would jump on it.

One of the best films of the 70's, one of my top 10 of all times. Every time I watch it, something else leaps out at me. It's brilliant, albeit one number too long. I show this to film buff friends and industry people all the time who are blown away by how modern it still is in many ways. As a fellow director

Yikes you are right!! I think I still had Elmore on my mind given he died recently! Thanks!

Agreed! Patric is amazing in that movie. And Rachel Ward?? Va-Voom!!!

Agreed!! Her reaction when "it" happens… the intense weeping from her abdomen as she kneels on the floor, is stunning. And then she gathers up that money even as she's lost her soul… and then that shot in the elevator… damn!

I disliked his performance the first couple of times I saw the movie. Everyone else wipes him off the screen. But that ultimately is part of the point. His character is weak and is manipulated by everyone. Lily can take a punch to the stomach. Roy cannot. In that regard, his weakness fits the character and the point

"You don't know what I'd do, Roy.You have no idea. To live."

As long as we are all talking about her great talent and beauty: Fabulous Baker Boys. Oh. My. God.
