It's quite hard in real life, as you can actually fall off the financial brink. On TV, a family can spend hundreds of dollars on, say, photographing a cat with no risk of lasting consequences.

Yeah, me too. In retrospect, it's odd that a prank show would involve so many brutal stabbings.

"I am Mongolian and I am offended by this! Our ancestors massacred millions of Chinese people, and this movie gives all the credit to the space aliens!"

Funny way to hear that sentence for the first time ever…

Be my guest! Be my guest!
Or I'll wear you as a vest!
I have deigned to take you in
And I've let you keep your skin
Why, I live only to serve
And yet you have the nerve
To scream and sulk and pout
And to ask to be let out
Is this the best you have for me?
I thought we had a destiny
Must I dump you in the sea
Like hostages one to

No, but nor am I a deformed hunchbacked beast. I don't expect to be the average hostage's first choice of a lover, but I feel like I should at least do better than a monster.

Stockholm Syndrome is a myth. It's happened like, twice, in recorded history. I mean, I've kidnapped dozens of people, and not one of them has ever fallen in love with me.

Of the two bald naked faceless women with no genitals, I found the 'non-sexy' one more appealing. She came across as socially awkward and self-conscious. I can relate to someone like that better.

I was baffled by the way they acted like Felicity's use of blackmail (in an attempt to prevent nuclear terrorism) was somehow crossing a line, unlike the normal stuff they do all the time like hacking governments and shooting people full of arrows.

I really wish the Marvel movies would acknowledge the time Loki had sex with a horse and got pregnant. It seems like the sort of thing the other gods would mention from time to time.

The nuclear family is a quirk of recent history that enjoyed a few decades of prevalence between the time half of all women died giving birth and the time half of all marriages ended in divorce. Extended families raising children is more common than a mother and father taking on all the responsibility.

I mean, obviously from the viewpoint of some teenage girl being forcibly married off to an old man, as happens in many countries on earth, having control would be a big plus. But I think she'd take the Zoo over her current life too.

It tells me that the makers of the show have lives where someone arranging your lovelife for you would be a net negative. Man, I wonder what that would be like.

I think that was a spoiler-free review rather than a TV Club recap (meaning there's no good place on this site to discuss the details).

I'm not offended by there being a white guy hero in it, but it makes my turkey-sense tingle. Like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2 being filmed with English dialogue. It suggests it's being made by people whose only concern is international box-office appeal, and not whether the movie is any good or not.

The nadir started around five years after I started reading comics.

I think they're just addicted to attention.

Harpo Marx's autobiography has quite a lot about vaudeville.
