I'm not expecting anything as huge a season4 revival. But anything new would be cool. I'd even be down for another one of those "Happy Endings Live" shows they used to do at the start of every season at UCB
Even something like that would be pretty cool, they did some funny ones for FoD in the past:
I could swear "Atlas" also played a hipster in that "Penny Starts Hanging Out With Hipsters" episode of Happy Endings.
Ron Huebel? That guys a hack! Hes just the poor mans Rob Huebel!
Im liking the self-aware "this is a sitcom!" throwaway lines they tend to be using more of lately, such as tonights "Well, that was a terrible segue" or "And thats the grape story."
And Annie has that yoga instructor who was Dave's loser teacher who dated Penny. And Gary Thicke (Rob Riggle cop from this week) looks a lot like that mailman who was killed on Happy Endings that one time.
Marry Me was quite funny this week I thought. Maybe there's some hope for the show yet. (probably doesnt matter this late in the season, as its likely gonna be cancelled at this point)
If there was any chance of it happening, DWJ being on New Girl would be the only thing stopping it from getting any kind of streaming service revival. Coupe and Pally (he's leaving Mindy) are officially freed up now. I think it's looking likely Wilson, Knighton and Cuthberts shows will be one-and-done seasons as well.
Yeah, definitely thought this was one of the strongest so far. When they get into the more ridiculous storylines like tonights is when it reminds me more of Happy Endings in good way rather than a "this show is like Happy Endings but not as good" way. I've noticed I had that reaction to both episodes written by the…
In season three Brad started working at a gym for kids called "Chuckles & Huggs" run by David Alan Grier as Terry Chuckles (there was some weird backstory I can't remember about what happened to his former business partner Robert Huggs)
Someone equated Marry Me to Mitch Hurwitz' Arrested Development follow-up "Running Wilde" a while ago, and I gotta admit there are quite a few parallels.
I hope they at least air the rest of episodes somewhere. Summer burn-off is probably the most likely.
Someone on reddit with a good eye noticed a Happy Endings reference the prop dept snuck in there:
Did anyone see Ken Marino getting hammered on NBC's New Years Eve thing last week? When the "New Years Ball" dropped Marino totally missed a chance to yell "I WANNA DIP MY NEW YEARS BALL IN IT!"
Considering NBC looks to be pulling it and About A Boy after February 17 (ironically Elisha Cuthbert's show is one of the ones taking one of the Tuesday slots) I would say it's probably not gonna last beyond one season either way.
I remember people often have the same complaint when Happy Endings was on "How do these people afford such nice places when most of them don't appear to have jobs???" I don't think we ever really knew what Jane's job was until she started working with "The Car Czar" in the final season. Brad was some type of…
Apparently we found out sometime this season (there may have been brief mention of it the pilot, actually) his job is selling hair plugs!
I recall Caspe recently admitting in another interview that he'll probably never get that lucky again with the cast they ended up with on Happy Endings and how rare it is to find a cast who has instant chemistry the way they did. ABC really had something special there and never even realized it.
