I agree with your assessment of Midnight in Paris 100% (just saw it last night.)  The look of the film is what made it halfway decent, although I think his shot choices were more interesting in the beginning, and settled into fairly straight-forward cinematography as the movie progressed.  Still, he does a nice job…

Finished book 1 of A Song of Ice and Fire (amazing, on to A Clash of Kings) and watched "Midnight in Paris" (how was that movie nominated for awards?)  Also listened to some good music: Slave Ambient, The Rhythm of the Saints, new Fanfarlo album, new Andrew Bird album.  All in all a pretty good weekend.
