The second episode did a good job with Alfred and his realization that he became a name overnight over a minor scuffle. The encounter with the cop, the guy at the chicken joint, etc. And his hesitance to speak to the children only got worse when the mother did a 180 once she realized that he was Paper Boi.

Glad I tuned in to this. Glover is great, but he's got some solid supporting characters in Alfred and Darius. I didn't think Van made much of an impression, but considering how much was focused on in just these two hours, she'll have more to do later on, I'm sure.

Yeah, the F bombs were surprising because I had no idea FX (let alone basic cable) was allowing that now.

I saw him first on his Derrick Comedy videos on youtube, and I was pretty impressed. That said, he's much more of a straight man here than anything else I've seen him in.

Yeah, that was Rachel Getting Married, and I hated that scene, too. It just felt so saccharine and fake.

In no particular order:

Hehe, I'm watching Reno 911! as we speak. It's the ep when Dangle meets his Black half-siblings, played by Aisha Tyler and Gary Anthony Williams.

And Topanga had a never-seen sister named Nebula. She disappeared, along with Shawn's older sister.

Yep. After trying SO, Minute Maid and Tropicana tasted even shittier.

Aw, I still have this book boxed up somewhere. The Ugly Duckling just being straight up ugly always made me laugh. And the Chicken Little story with the table of contents crushing everyone, and the lettering was all jumbled on the first page. Such a great book.

I tried watching it the other night. Nice visuals, good score, but damn, Hemsworth was trying so hard to be grim and serious in that movie.

Thor is the only movie where Hemsworth didn't wear a wig. Or at least a full one and not just pieces. Any other Marvel movie he's worn the full wig. Same with Hiddleston.

After his first stint on SNL, I was impressed with his knack for comedy. He lampoons himself very well.

The personality shift in that scene is so intense. You can tell from the moment Charlie and his grandpa walk in the office that something has changed. The energy was so off, you practically miss the oddness of the room itself (everything was cut in half, iirc). You just Wonka is sitting at desk, head in his hands,

I love the "common clay" line. It sounds so meaningful, allowing for Wilder to deliver the very flat "You know, morons" bit perfectly.

Bart: Are we awake?
Jim: Well, that depends. Are we…Black?

Aw, this sucks. He did a guest stint on Will and Grace some years back, and he still had the charm. The Waco Kid, Willy Wonka, or whatever you know him for, he was delightful.
