This is more in the camp of a thing that I love that everyone I show it to hates: Nicki Minaj's "Beez in the Trap."

I have never so quickly gone from tearing up to literally slapping myself with irrepressible laughter as I did with the Noob Noob reveal.

It's a strange feeling: I agree almost wholeheartedly with you, but also can't help but feel it was all just a little more inelegant and unrewarding this time around.

I understand the concern that the show too frequently goes to the well of trans or homophobic (not to mention racist and sexist) slurs, but I honestly have never felt uncomfortable laughing at it because it insists so heavily that these characters are all terrible people.

"Peter MacNicol was a highpoint of season five as Uncle Jeff, but he overstays his welcome here, a prime example of the louder, broader approach of season six. His cackling return to Jonah’s room to mock Jonah over Shawnee’s decision to leave him goes on too long and never comes back around to funny."

I'm not tryna pick a fight here, I'm just not sure what you mean by "manufactured."

I was spellbound for that whole scene… but I can't lie, it just sat weird with me how blatant a nod it was. I shouldn't be so picky, I guess.

Maaan, I am so on the fence about the frequent visual and storytelling references to other Coen bros movies.

This episode was basically the first time I cared about McGregor's portrayal of Emmit at all (I kinda liked Ray, paunchy fuck up that he was).

Rewatching Season 1 recently, I was shocked as to how much of it hasn't really stood up for me over time.

What'd you think of the latest episode?

I like this latest season just fine, but it'd be a stretch (for me) to call it great in the sense that the other two were.

I know we all really hate Chuck around these parts (and rightly so), but his barely restrained speech to Dr. Cruz about his condition nearly made me actually sympathise with the bastard.

This is one of the only online back-and-forths I've ever had that ended in mutual respect, and that's something I sincerely appreciate. I think we may have cured the internet.

Yeah, I've seen that too.

If I say, "Yeah, but context…" in response to that, it'll just inspire endless claims that we need to consider the context in which Maher said the word and chill out.

Plenty who THINK they're sensible. But in defending it, they kinda cancel out that claim.

Anyone else dreading the inevitable right-wing backlash as they try to tar us all with the same brush as Maher?

In response to the men's dress shirt stray observation, I'll just add that (in my own personal experience) whenever my female friends stay over they ALWAYS ask for one of my shirts to sleep in.

I can't think of anything more foolish to hope for than Danny Pudi ever getting another role as iconic and revelatory as Abed Nadir.
