The little snippets of Bowie in the bonus material on the Extras DVDs make it pretty clear that he has a REALLY dry (as in "makes the Sahara look a bit damp") sense of humour.  His stuff about helping Gervais write the show with lines like "You and what army?" is either hilarious or just plain weird (or both)
