Has Kimya gotten rid of her mustache?

Nice to see a shout out for Radio Birdman. Deniz Tek is a fanastic guitarist.  Now, nobody forget The Church in your Great Australian Band list.

I've always despised that song.  That it rips off "Lust For Life" is only one of the reasons.

What are you talking about?

Carbon Yeti - I agree about how tame "Remember" can come accross.  There's a live version of it on youtube which sounds much fuller and more exciting.

That's a great point.  Just saw Reich in Boston last summer, and his musicians were playing to the rhythm of dialogue in film shorts.  Best show I ever saw.

He is.  I've been reading/watching his interviews since '08.  Bradford Cox approaches life from the standpoint of a skinny, strange-looking, gay man with Marfan's Disease.  He endured a lot of shit onstage, and in school for it.   Plus, he knows he doesn't have that many years to live.  In other words, he's got a

Really, who gives a shit what the interviews sound like. They either bring it on record, or they don't. Deerhunter are consistently excellent the way that the Smashing Pumpkins were in the 90s for a while. I've never cared how pompus Billy Corgan is either.

True, but Cox does know Stockhausen and Xenakis. It doesn't have to be modern classical to be avant-garde.

That is so far from the truth.  Read The Wire magazine.  Tell me if you've heard of even a 20th of those (worthy) artists.  Few of them can support themsleves with their music, after sometimes 30 years. You just need to dig deeper to find the new underground.

Totally agree.  Lotus Plaza is more my liking, though, than Atlas Sound. "Remember Our Days" was stunning.  I'd like them to get back to being more of a guitar band on the new one.  For Deerhunter, the experiment has been the pop. They started off a noise band, much like Sonic Youth.

People don't like Deerhunter??   They're one of the word's best bands.

Just listen to "Octet" off of Cryptograms.  That should bring you back there more.

Finally, someone in includes Barnaby.

Putting Motley Crue over mid-70s Aerosmith just seriously underminds your credibility.

Right. Stoopid revisionist history is just as bad.  "Maybe they were good a long time ago. But they've sucked forever since then" is a nice, safe view when it comes to Aerosmith.  But even young listeners are still sucking the dicks of the Rolling Stones. Those guys haven't put out anything listenable in 30 years.

I like High On Fire a lot.  But I have to admit "once you manage to release yourself from your childhood christian nightmare" is a fucking awesome line.
