@avclub-6a2bf4f521361547e6366a4cc3fbd6cf:disqus Lorelai doesn't talk about beating Kirk in every scene. Mostly she talks about wanting to win the great big trophy (at Friday Night Dinner, for example). Beating Kirk is incidental to it. There are several other scenes that pass the Bechdel test: Paris, Rory, Madeline

Not that I dislike this episode at all - in fact, I think it's a cute little episode - but I agree that it's not really the pinnacle of the series. It didn't make a particularly big impression on me the first time around, but I thought it was just a fault of my rusty memory that I couldn't remember it being all that

How does the whole episode fail the Bechdel test because of that final scene?  In fact, it's literally impossible to imagine any episode of GG failing the Bechdel test, given that most of the main characters are female.

Yeah, it's pretty rare that Emily can shock Lorelai, than the other way around.

Here's a very incomplete list from the Gilmore Girls Wiki: http://gilmoregirls.wikia.c… They don't even consider this dance marathon a festival!

Quotes!

I meant that is the phrase 'four-in-four' a commonly used one in real life? Obviously, people can have four kids in four years if they really want to and are super-fertile.

So what's everyone's favourite Stars Hollow crazy-awesome festival? The dance marathon in this episode comes close, but IMO, the Festival of Living Art in season 4 (in the episode of the same name) is the best.

But where had she gone and why? Luke brought the glue needed to fix the shoe to the dance room. Even if the shoe needed more than 10 minutes to be fixed, why would Lorelai need to leave the room in the duration? And more importantly, why would she leave the room wearing only one shoe?!

Is four-in-four a real thing, or was it just a product of ASP's fevered imagination?

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. It bugs me to no end. But I guess I just freaked out even more than usual seeing major time-related goof-ups in an episode in which time is so important that a clock is shown before every scene.

Well, my comment above was tongue-in-cheek, but yes, I do agree with you (and disagree with Sims!) that Let the Games Begin is pretty memorable. Aside from the reasons you mentioned, there's also the lovely scene in which Richard and Emily talk about the early days of their romance - something they rarely do

Sorry, you're not allowed to agree with Sims. It's a contractual obligation of commenting on these reviews.

The logistics of the dance marathon really just don't work - which is a pity, for such a great episode, as they kept pulling me out of the show. So it begins at 6 am and ends at 6 am 24 hours later. Fine, no problem there. But that means that hour 23 is 5 am. Why are so many non-participants up at 5 am? I can buy Dean

Paris: “I already wrote his name in my revenge notebook.” Now I'm imagining a spin-off about Paris wreaking revenge on all those who have wronged her, crossing off name after name every week in her revenge notebook. I bet she'd do a spectacular job of it too - she'd certainly make Emily Thorne look like a rank amateur

Ooh, yes, I forgot about the Danes Anomalies. There's quite a lot of them in 'Take The Deviled Eggs' - quite surprising, for an episode whose A plot involves a baby shower. There's the Luke and Jess scene, of course. And there's another long Danes Anomaly in the scene with Taylor, the Reverend and the Rabbi  - a

I agree with 1. Though I hope the bulk of your questions are about what would have happened in the future seasons of Bunheads.

Doesn't Lorelai learn about everything that goes on in Stars Hollow anyway? Think of Lorelai as filling a sort of Ted Mosby role in GG. She isn't personally involved in all the stories, but somehow she knows enough of them to narrate (figuratively in this case) them in detail.

SPOILERS, I guess

I too wondered why Dwight never showed up again, but I guess the meta reason is that he was just too one-note to be worth bringing back. But I do like your in-universe reason as well!
