I don't mind the fact that she blew off class or that she went to see Jess. It's just silly how utterly unplanned the whole thing is. As Sims points out* Rory doesn't even know where she's going - she just randomly turns up in Washington Square Park, and somehow coincidentally enough, runs into Jess there (does he

Then again, it's not exactly a high concept show. While it might be an exaggeration to say that one can start watching GG at any point in the first three seasons and be able to figure out what's what easily, it's only a bit of an exaggeration.

Doesn't Rory's description of her kindergarten vegetable dance remind anyone of the supermarket dance in Bunheads' "Money for Nothing"?

That proud moment is pretty much the saving grace of what is otherwise, frankly, a sub-par GG episode. Rory has a couple of good scenes, such as her rant in the end, and her conference with her grandparents, but otherwise, her story is just weird. And Lorelai's class-conflict with her fellow students is just so

@avclub-3f2263ada00cf404ac8d4b205f830508:disqus Sure, a greater variety of art/artists would be nice. But I guess that what the writers are primarily interested in are a variety of titles that can be reasonably applied to the themes of SaB episodes. Certain artists - especially certain modern artists - title their

@avclub-3f2263ada00cf404ac8d4b205f830508:disqus He had a very expressive back. ;)

@avclub-33fb9c6b96f8be4cd08f12d1edab3ffc:disqus I wish I could give you a thousand likes, especially for that second paragraph!

See, I'd like to believe that. But then I remember that these are the same people (maybe not all exactly the same people, but collectively anyway) who thought Daphne's fling with Chef Jeff was oh-so-romantic, and my faith in their judgement evaporates.

Hmm, I don't know - I think you might be giving the writers too much credit there. At the beginning of the season, Jace was definitely portrayed as an ideal guy for Daphne - the knight in shining armour who would rescue her from her family troubles, make her job more interesting, and just be generally super-cool

Ty is a black hole down which everything interesting about Bay has been sucked this season - just like Zarra was in season 1.3. Bay is always more interesting when she's playing off one of her family members or Emmett. Shoving her off into completely separate storylines never works.

Ugh, I know. Bay used to have two important themes in previous seasons: her passion for her art, and her need to explore her heritage and identity. While it's understandable she might want to put the latter at rest at least temporarily, what happened to the former? Has she simply forgotten she loves art? Or rather,

Nothing about Jace makes sense. As someone else (sorry, I don't remember who) said on these comments, he's a Manic Pixie Dream Dude for Daphne: built out of a bunch of quirky characteristics that make no sense, and don't add up to an actual human being.

It's not like they're displaying his art - just his titles.

No, as much as I like Travis, I'm glad he wasn't around. This was a story about the Bledsoe family, and Travis's presence would have been just awkward.

I think that since a restructuring of the grading system a few years ago, the highest possible grade is A, not A+. At least, it certainly is for us commentors, so it most likely is for the reviewers as well (or else the two systems would be out of step with each other).

@avclub-944a5ae3483ed5c1e10bbccb7942a279:disqus Sure, that was the intention (that the whole town felt parental towards Rory), but it didn't come off that way to me at all. It just came off like people had no concept of boundaries. It was particularly egregious in case of Luke, who otherwise maintains extremely strict

Lol! Of course, if they were capable of that, they wouldn't need an elaborate ruse to keep Kirk out. Luke would just put up a sign saying 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Kirk'.

I love seeing Lorelai and Richard getting along - it's so rare that it's practically non-existent.

Yeah - as much as I'd like to blame Sims's dismal reviews for the low comment count, it's more likely that people simply finished saying what they have to say about GG in the first few weeks, and don't really want to analyse each and every episode.

The fact that their names were different didn't tip you off?
