It’s tough, because it’s a Robot Chicken sketch stretched out to a series. And the best joke is really that junior officers die all the time, which is tough to pull off on a weekly basis. (although they could commit, and bring in a guest-star Kenny redshirt to kill every week)

Galaxy Quest is amazing because it’s a comedy, but it’s also a better trek movie than almost all the trek movies. I don’t know that anyone could pull that off on a weekly basis.

I do wonder how much they debated setting this on the D, or during TOS?

The local neighborhood kid with the sexy adult voice is gold.

See you, and raise The Prisoner.

From this movie, do you think these characters are actually good at what they do? (whatever that might be)

6 Underground was completely terrible. But the one thing I can give it is that it clearly let the audience know what makes a 6 Underground movie.

This was exceptionally, disappointingly boring. It wasn’t incompetently terrible the way that 6 Underground was, but it really could have used a bit of that show’s dumb enthusiasm.

I knew this was going to be a slideshow, but I still clicked on it to say that Splice is one of the worst movies that I have ever watched.

The critics apparently got screeners for 1, 3 & 10. So the review for 10 has already been up for a week, but the avclub’s structure (if we want to call it that) can make it easy to miss if you don’t specifically go looking for it.

I can’t do a top-10, but I’ll break it down as:

Philip K. Dick has a story “Small Town” about a magic model town and a sad guy who changes things and yadda yadda. I don’t know that it’s particularly famous? But it is famous enough that it gets included in his short story collections.

...and while I’m thinking about it, “I know that it’s not a perfect copy of so-and-so, but it’s what I need right now” is a good basis for a story, but you need to actually do something with it.

This is the first one of the season that I actually hated.

An ending that needs that much exposition is not a good ending. All that speechifying in the final 5 minutes really ground things to a halt.

The elaborate technology and design of the “Anatomy Of A Loser” science project bugged me...

The opening was very nice, but a cursed-object story should really loop back on itself.

Woof.

Yup, liked this one a lot. It’s not “Amazing!” but it’s a nice story.
