A few weeks ago someone mentioned that this was like Person of Interest...except that in Person of Interest you actually liked the characters.

“Stealing” the police chopper was terribly lazy writing (and production, and everything).
I really hated the Picard finale. And the writing here had a similar madlibs quality-level to it.
Huh. I did not think this would be in the running for “as big a mess as Picard” but here we are.
I love that in one of the early Ferengi episodes there’s a line:
77 minutes? I really like Dujardin, but I wasn’t sure about this. But for only 77 minutes I guess I’ll have to give it a try.
Having thought about this for a few days, I’m still pretty firmly on the meh side.
I thought it was kindof meh. I’m not sure this story could have been squeezed into a 2 hour movie? But it also definitely didn’t need 8ish hours.
The stuff in the box had a heavy Sunshine-vibe, so I was sortof waiting for Offerman’s character to turn into a serial killer for some reason.
Right now Delores’ badassness seems entirely random.
I more meant that through PoI, one of the big “conflicts” was Harold’s fear of the machine. And at the end its message to him was something like “Don’t worry dad, you taught me well. I’m not evil. (also, I’m not just saying that to try to trick you again.)”
On the one hand, Dolores really is just a kid. She thinks she knows everything, but this is the first time that she’s been in the world, so some things should actually surprise her.
I thought Westworld was going to pick up the baton and run with it—explore the ideas that Nolan would have in the last 1.5 seasons of PoI that we never got. Not do the same thing over again.
It is the kind of pivot that could happen fast, though. At some point I’m still expecting a recording of Ford or Arnold explaining that everything is part of some grand plan.
The triumphant setting everyone free stuff was very Mr. Robot-y, plus lots of subways and drugtrips.
My main thought about genre was...was that really it? It was fun~ish, but so slight.
Some strong Mr. Robot vibes this week. (and PoI, as usual)
I’m always kindof surprised how bad Delores is at this. She wouldn’t get caught in nearly as many gunfights if she was even slightly careful.
Before they applied the multi-worlds whatsit everything that we saw them watching was blurry. The Marilyn Monroe scene in the past was as blurry as Jesus. And the future projection of Lily (or whomever) crawling was also as blurry as Jesus.
